The space

Hello there!

If you are looking for a nice, cosy and quiet place to stay yet want to be close to the Amsterdam center, read on :)

My apartment:
A light apartment which is often described by visitors as 'gezellig', a Dutch word best translated as cosy. There's a double box spring bedroom with access to the balcony. Also a separate simple guest bed is available. The luxurious kitchen (with microwave/oven, dishwasher, stove, fridge/freezer and washing machine) has a table and also gives access to the balcony, which is ideal for a nice outside breakfast or a late night wine! In the living room there's a table, couch, TV (you can connect your laptop and Netflix is available through Apple TV), DVD, stereo (with Airplay), piano and a little desk. The bathroom is small but comfortable with a shower, sink and toilet. There is an iron and a hair dryer. Towels and linen are included. Reliable WIFI is available.

The whole apartment is available to you. The bedroom, balcony and living room are exclusively for you, bathroom and kitchen are shared with me (for the rest, I stay on another floor).

The area:
'The Baarsjes' and is a trendy area with excellent restaurants and bars such as Zürich, Cook and Radijs. The beautiful Rembrandtpark is right next door and leads to the popular Vondelpark. The Amsterdam center with its canals, museums and areas such as the Jordaan is only 10 minutes away by bike/public transport. Amsterdam Central Station is just a 16 minute tram ride. The airport is also very close (15 minutes) and so is the beach (Bloemendaal/Zandvoort, 40 minutes).

To sum it up:
- Cosy apartment near center and parks
- Green, quiet, trendy area
- WIFI
- Close to Schiphol airport and beach
- Public transportation on the nearby Mercator square

I hope to welcome you soon! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to drop me an email!

Warm regards, Mark

We really enjoyed our stay in Mark’s lovely flat! He was a wonderful host. Mark helped us to feel very welcome and comfortable. He provided a lot of insight and advice to help us quickly familiarize ourselves with the neighbourhood and transportation system. Communication with him was quick and easy right from the time of booking. The flat was exactly as pictured in Mark’s photos. It was roomy, bright, and well-stocked with everyday essentials. It was clutter-free and very cozy. We felt at home right away! We enjoyed making meals in Mark’s new kitchen. The Wi-Fi connection was excellent. The Mercatorplein area has everything you need (grocery, wine/beer shop, restaurants, coffee shop). It is a quiet, family neighbourhood, but only minutes away from the city centre by bus or tram (which run frequently and are easy to use). One of us is celiac and needs to eat gluten free. The wonderful restaurant on the square, “Zurich”, was able to accommodate us. The grocery store, “Ekoplaza”, had the widest selection of gluten free options and very helpful staff. The café/restaurant, “Bagels & Beans”, had fresh-baked, gluten free bagels. The famous pancake restaurant, “Pancakes!” also had gluten free options. We loved our home-away-from-home in this fabulous city. We highly recommend Mark’s flat as your home base to explore all that Amsterdam has to offer!

First we want to thank Mark for everything, he made us feel at home and was a very charming and helpful host. he gave us his personal phone so when we arrived at the Centraal station we were able to communicate easily with him. he indicated us which Tram to take and gave us an easy to find rendez-vous. once we got to his apartment we found a clean, spacious and a fully equiped bright place, we loved it!!!! All accommodation were from walking distance, grocery, bakery, restaurants, bike rental and tram stop. the WIFI access helped us a lot in our web search and keeping contact with our friends and family. the neighborhood was quiet at night and the demographic very cheerful, we were just a block away from Rembrandt's Park (perfect for picnic) and could get anywhere in minutes. we strongly suggest that in your next visit in Amsterdam you stay at Mark's place. Thank you very much Mark for everything

Mark's apartment was clean, comfortable and extremely well-appointed, we wanted for nothing during our stay. The apartment is bright and airy with a narrow balcony running the length from the kitchen to the bedroom, a perfect spot for a morning cup of tea - if the weather cooperates! The apartment was the perfect base for us, close enough to get to the hustle and bustle of city centre by tram in 10-15 minutes but as it is in a family neighbourhood it is very quiet at night. A grocery store, restaurants, Rembrandtpark and public transit are all within a 5 minute walk. We found Mark to be a very gracious host. There was a lovely bottle of wine and fresh roses awaiting our arrival and he helped us get our luggage up the three flights of stairs. Mark left a booklet with helpful hints on how to use the wifi, appliances, etc. and some suggestions of where to eat, what to do and how to get there and we found this very useful.

HOST Mark is great! Leading up to our arrival he communicated regularly, and gave clear instructions on how to get to his apt. His insights were key in how successful our trip was: where to shop, where to buy transit cards, killer sites and activities in Amsterdam, etc. We felt Mark was always available to answer questions but as he did so much to inform us up-front we never had much need to call on him. He's friendly, punctual, and offers suggestions from the perspective of someone that has obviously lived in and explored his own city. What more could you ask from a host? NEIGHBOURHOOD The ideal location for our 12-day stay. Only two blocks to everything we needed: grocery store, bike rentals, restaurants, the lovely Rembrandtpark, many essential tram and bus lines that deliver you just steps from all the most popular sites in the city. You will be far enough from the noise and energy of the revelers in the city core that you can sleep peacefully, but close enough to easily walk, bike, or bus to everything if you choose. APARTMENT Located in a quiet street one block over from the gorgeous Rembrandtpark, Mark's flat has everything for a comfortable stay. We loved having a well-equipped kitchen and dishwasher. The washer came in handy too. The large balcony looks out into a quiet courtyard framed by the adjacent buildings. The perfect place to have incredible Dutch coffee and baked goods for breakfast. The beds are comfortable, there's WiFi for plotting a day's events, and it's nice to have the option to turn on the TV and watch Dutch and/or English shows at the end of a long day exploring.

Mark was very welcoming host and provided a really useful pack for us on local amenities and restaurants. The apartment was super clean, comfortable in a quiet neighbourhood with plenty of shops and cafes and only a short tram ride to the city centre.

My name is Mark, I am a musician/producer and I also teach in music production. I've been living in Amsterdam for 6 years now and I love it! The city is so vibrant, full of opportunities, yet it can also be so quiet so you can choose what you are in the mood for. Activities I like, next to basically anything music-related, are going out, sports and traveling (would love to do more of that!). I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and being around people I can connect with.
