Our home was built by our grandfather in the 1920’s. This stone house overlooks the mountains and cove and is within easy walking distance to postcard-worthy beaches, waterfront cafes and taverns, ancient ruins, and a stone dock full of wooden boats.

The space
This is a traditional village house with thick stone walls, high windows, and handmade wooden doors and furniture. There are two bedrooms, a living room with a sofa bed that sleeps two, a dining room, and a fully equipped but charmingly traditional kitchen. There is a full bathroom with bath/shower, and a half bathroom (toilet only), that are reached by a passageway behind the house. Yes, you will need to put your shoes on, go outside, and walk 5 meters to reach the bathroom.

On the front of the house is a large veranda with great views, ideal for gathering with friends or family, watching the sunset, having outdoor meals, or watching the stars. In back is another patio featuring the hand-drawn well where we once got all our drinking water.

Two air-conditioned front bedrooms each have double beds, and a simple living room features a folding sofa – bed which can sleep two. Each of these rooms features ample closet space. There is also a sofa-bed in the dining room which could accommodate an additional guest.

Sheets and towels are available. We can help you arrange laundry service for longer stays.

Please note that Greek tax regulations require us to record the passport information (or National ID for Greeks) of the guest who has made the reservation. You will be asked to provide your full name, passport country, number, and expiration date upon check-in, as you would at a hotel.

Location

Plitra, Peloponnisos Dytiki Ellada ke Ionio, Greece

Plytra is a small, seaside fishing village that has been inhabited for millennia, as evidenced from the ruins that surround it. Ancient ruins are a 5 -10 minute walk from the house, partially underwater which makes for great snorkeling. The location of the house is set on a slope overlooking the village and bay.

Plytra consists of perhaps 100 full-time residents and Greek contemporary summer homes which fill up in the summer months. There are several waterfront cafes/restaurants, along with an excellent beach with beach bar. Plytra offers a mini-market with basic groceries, but more extensive shopping and services require a 10 minute trip to the nearby town of Papadianika.

Please ask us about activities in the local area. There are tons of them!

Hi there. George here. I'm a dad, a photographer, a first-generation Greek-American and your host for the houses in Plytra, along with my siblings, Dimitri and Titika. I also travel extensively for work (and some for fun) and I am very familiar with the needs and wants of those who are traveling. My siblings and I will do our best to make your stay at our place as easy and comfortable as we are able. Welcome.
