Privacy and peacefulness awaits our guests at Lapis Lane Cabin. Our cabin is a perfect getaway for nature and animal lovers and those seeking to unplug from daily life.

Tucked away off a country lane on South Whidbey, in the Maxwelton Valley, the cabin feels worlds away, but is a short drive from all the island has to offer.

The space
The Cabin is a clean, quiet, pet friendly, 450 square foot space, featuring high ceilings, large windows, wide-plank reclaimed fir floors and a large spacious yard for relaxing or playing a tail wagging game of fetch. Many handmade crafts are in the cabin, much of which have been made in our glass studio further up the lane.

The fully equipped kitchen has a full size refrigerator and gas range, microwave, coffee maker, and an electric tea kettle. All the dishes, pots, pans and utensils and basic condiments are available for cooking meals. We have tried to cover all the basics and you'll find some food staples to use such as oil, salt, pepper and sugar. We supply great Island roasted coffee plus a drawer full of assorted teas. Please enjoy the collection of our favorite games and books, as well as a surround sound flat screened ROKU HDTV with HDMI hook-up, free WiFi, plus a guitar!
The bathroom has a shower (no bathtub), and lots of clean towels. Shampoo, conditioner, soap and toilet paper are provided, plus a washer and dryer.

The queen size memory foam topped bed has crisp quality linens and fluffy duvets for chilly nights.

The porch off the bedroom, faces east and is flooded in natural morning sunlight. Enjoy the morning sun at the bistro table on the bedroom deck. Relax and listen to the birds with a cup of coffee and enjoy alone time.

The private garden surrounding the Cabin are flowering shrubs, a charcoal barbecue (best kind in my opinion, for grilling salmon), and picnic table with a sun umbrella. A ringed fire pit is available for evenings, cooking s’mores, playing music and enjoying the dark starry island sky (firewood available from local stores). -Please be aware that sound travels and we do have neighbors.

We have a PET BASKET just for your four legged friend, with food bowls, lint rollers (for picking up hair), towels for cleaning up wet dogs and a supply of tennis balls, plus a few extra items to make your pet stay easier.

We ask pet owners to:
Not allowing pets on the beds of furniture.
Not to leave pets alone unless crated.
Pick up and dispose of pet waste.
and please, have your pet on a flea regimen.

If you are allergic to dogs, we probably would not be a good fit for you.

Other things to note
Lapis Lane Guesthouse (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/18635294 ) is on the same 7 acre property about 300 feet away from the Cabin. Both places are independent, but could be rented together if you have a larger group. Our home and hot glass studio is further up the lane.

Guest access
The cabin has a washer and dryer plus an old fashioned clothes line to sun dry your towels and swimsuits.

A charcoal barbecue and picnic table are available for guests use.

There is a fire pit for small evening camp fires. During our wet seasons firewood can purchased at the local stores and sometimes it's availabile at the Cabin. The summers are very dry in the Northwest and fire bans are imposed by the local Fire Chief. All fires are strictly prohibited at these times.

There is a Pet Basket containing water/food bowls, towels for dying wet pets, and balls for playing fetch.

Other things to note
South Whidbey moves at a slower pace. We do not have 24 hour grocery stores. Restaurants close earlier than many other places. We have several grocery stores where you can find most things you need. There are fantastic farmer's markets where locals bring in the best fresh locally grown organic produce and handcrafted items. Please stop and shop before you arrive.

To fish, dig clams, mussels or crab, a licence is needed which may be purchased at Sebo's Hardware and Jim's Hardware.

South Whidbey Island has been my home for over 24 years. My husband and I have raised two kids and many pets over this time. My passions are gardening and cooking. Luckily, I get to garden everyday for my work. I lead a gardening team which maintains/designs private gardens here on the island. My husband is a designer, builder and an artist. Together we designed and built the Cabin. You may notice his handcrafted elements like glassware and sculptures in both the Cottage and the Cabin. I enjoy hosting and try to create a comfortable guest experience. I pick up my messages regularly and will be able to respond to your inquiry within a couple of hours.
