This is a comfy, smaller, quiet room close to both the Robin and Quail rooms. It shares the bathroom that is also available for the guests in Robin Room. It is ideal as an 'overflow possibility' for guests who are traveling with two close friends or family who don't mind sharing a bathroom. Guests from both rooms can lock the doors and have privacy, however. The bed is queen size and very comfortable! Another good sleeping room.

The space

There is a common living room with a table for games, comfy seating areas, and sliding doors that open out to the garden and fire pit. Wi-fi is good throughout the spaces available for guests.

Guest access

There is a guest 'halfbath'room available, but it's located on the other side of the house, off the kitchen.
All guests are welcome to use the living room and dining room. The patio and garden is also there for guests to enjoy!

Interaction with guests

We are very happy to spend as much or as little time with guests as they feel they need. We're "people" people, interested always in meeting new guests, giving recommendations for restaurants in the area or activities/ places worth going to, but also keenly aware that sometimes people need their peace and quiet!

Other things to note

Because of our water shortage here in Carmel Valley, I prefer guests to stay at least two nights! This eases my conscience about my standard of always giving the guests freshly washed sheets!
Although I have wanted to remain pet-free here, due to our critical situation with ground squirrels and rodents in the valley, I have had to "employ" two "working cats", whose task it is to chase them away! It's has been successful, even though one of them has proven himself to be more of a 'couch potato'. Still, their presence on the property has worked to deter all rodents, so I'm grateful for their effortsl! They sleep in the kitchen of this house, never in any of the b&b spaces.

Seasonal note:
We've thankfully had a good amount of rain this year, so the wild flowers in these parts promise to be spectacular! Also to remember is that Monarch butterflies are here from about Oct-end of Feb/early March - they're worth seeing, and if you visit from mid-December through mid-April, you could see gray whales, dolphins and killer whales migrating, or visit from mid-April through mid-December to see humpback whales, blue whales, dolphins and killer whales. This is awe-inspiring!
Also, on a different note, if you so desire, you can pre-order a full, hearty breakfast cooked by my partner and chef 'par excellence', Max. (cost is extra: $20 per person - whatever your choice) Options are: eggs any style, bacon or sausage (let us know in advance which your preference is), skirlie and/or toast. We call this "The Works". Other options, such as Blueberry French Toast Soufflè, (serves two) or "Feathered Eggs" - sometimes known as 'chicken in a basket', or "Hugged Eggs" (which are eggs cooked inside a red pepper ring) are offered, if desired. Please let us know if you would like any one of these in advance. Please note that we serve breakfast between 8-10 am. We will make every effort to be prompt with the time you request, and will appreciate it greatly if you do the same...

A peaceful atmosphere is best maintained for everyone's sake...I love it when guests are respectful and feel comfortable enough to make themselves at home! It also helps when guests arrive and depart at reasonable times, when possible, and give us enough time to plan in advance for their visit! Also, please note that breakfast is available between 8:00 - 10:00am.

Pet(s) live on property - We've had to "employ" two cats whose job is to reduce the rodent-problem here in Carmel Valley! However, they are not allowed in the airbnb rooms!

This is a gem in the Carmel Valley. Kristin is a great host, and the house is amazing. Coming over from Europe where everything is small compared to USA, the entire place looks like a castle, not a regular house. With huge rooms, huge garden and surroundings. The sleeping is awesome as well, there are no noises, just the quiet chirp of the crickets. The two cute cats are sweet as well! Of course, you are a quick drive away from Carmel by the sea, which you have to visit. Overall, awesome.

A lovely home to stay, in the middle of a beautiful and scenic valley. Kristin was so welcoming of us into her beautifully, intriguing house and made us feel at home straight away, and also helped us book somewhere great to eat out for supper as we arrived in the early evening. Our room was perfect for the night and breakfast in the morning was delicious and just right to start us off for the day ahead. Thank you so much for a short, but lovely stay and we will definitely be back one day!

My husband and I chose Kristin's place for a restorative weekend getaway and that's exactly what we got! Kristin and her partner Max are very warm and welcoming hosts and their home is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed breakfast in the morning, were able to come and go as we pleased, and especially enjoyed the bonfire on our last night :). Highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway that is close to wineries and hiking!

Kristen's house is beautiful and calm and she immediately made us feel right at home. She gave us excellent advice about where to taste local wines and have diner. Later that evening we had a delightful time sitting around her outdoor fire pit with her family and the other air bnb guests singing songs and gazing at the stars. Definitely recommend !
