Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
A waterfront heritage home and gardens minutes from the village by car or a 20 minute beach walk. Two large upstairs rooms in the main house and an attached" cottage" .An old English style kitchen garden for guests to enjoy and even harvest/snack from all make it a special experience. Please kindly note this is not an automatic booking situation and I always communicate with guests to ensure its a good fit. Tell me a bit about yourselves! .

The space
This is a bright upstairs room with a four poster queen bed, bay window and large en suite with walk in shower. Views of the sailing club from the room but the best spot is to relax is on your deck in the large circular covered nest chair. The garden or walk out lower deck where you can look out to the sailing club from the hanging bed and enjoy the breeze are also features. An easy wide path to the beach is the start to a beach walk to town, about 20-30 minutes.. Full breakfasts served and a small in room fridge for beverages , tea and coffee making station all make for a cosy stay.

Guest access
Your upstairs room and deck are ample. You are also welcome to enjoy the gardens and the lower covered deck as well as use the path to the beach which is a fairly gentle slope. Ideal for launching paddle boards and kayaks.

During your stay
We are happy to provide information about the island and be available as you wish. You will find us in the garden!

Other things to note
Parking is at the top of the hill as you come down the drive, on the right hand side by the Douglas house sign. Walk over the knoll on the gravel path ,through the gate and through the garden to the front door of the main house.
.Please do not drive all the way down unless you have mobility trouble.
We are on septic.. nothing down toilets except toilet paper. All else in garbage recycle or compost.
Salt Spring conserves water especially in the summer.
Thank you!

I am a contemporary textile artist and instructor in Arts Education and offer textile arts retreats here on Salt Spring in addition to the B and B . I know travel having lived studied and worked abroad for over a decade in Japan, SE Asia and the U.K. Gardening, arts, music , books, travel and hospitality are all important to me. This property I have completely renovated inside and out since landing here in 2014, envisioning as a family home to be shared as a retreat and arts space . I am happy to host and engage as you wish.I value quality, things done well and small touches and surprises that make things memorable.
