Calm house and estate in the Sierra de Guadarrama, well communicated with downtown Madrid, the airport, and historical and natural attractions in the area. The house is in the middle of a rustic garden with several levels and charming areas to rest, play, and eat, amidst pine trees, aromatic plants, and a vegetable garden. The property includes a heated swimming pool and a sports court (with equipment for basketball, tennis, or badminton), as well as an equipped BBQ area and fireplace inside the house. Bikes and gym equipment are also available. This is an ideal place for lovers of natural environments, country and mountain activities, as well as those who want to experience the activities in Madrid from a calmer and different stand-point, where they can rest and decompress at the end of the day. Other places of interest at a day-trip distance are El Escorial (15 minutes from the house by car), Manzanares el Real (20 mins.), Avila, Segovia (both less than 1 hour away, and the Parque Nacional de Guadarrama (for hiking, climbing, skiing, etc.).
(URL HIDDEN)The hosts (Ana Laura and her son Jose Antonio, who lives in a smaller house at the other side of the property) both speak English and are part of a well-travelled, international family. They are willing to pick up and take guests to and from the airport and train station when needed, as well as offer directions and advice about local activities, including mountain trails, climbing, skiing, and other. TV, WiFi, local calls, and parking are available and included. Ana Laura can serve you breakfast for free, and both can cook delicious Spanish meals upon request (US$12 per person), including Spanish and South American dishes, using organic produce from local markets and the house garden in the Summer.
(URL HIDDEN)The area is called El Pocillo, a chalet colony at the end of Galapagar, but closer to Villalba, a vibrant town and hub of shopping, services, and transportation for the whole Sierra. The RENFE train station is at a walking distance from the house (12-15 minutes), and a direct 50 minute pleasant train ride (crossing the natural Park of El Pardo) takes you to downtown Madrid (train schedule is very convenient, every 15 minutes or so). You can use the ride to read and plan your day incursion into the big city! Once in Madrid (stations of Atocha, Sol, Chamartin, and other) you will have all sorts of attractions at a walking distance, as well as the Metro and buses to take you to any corner of the capital. At the Atocha station (direct line from Villalba) you can take the AVE (High Speed train) to Seville, Barcelona, etc. (tickets can be bought in advance online or at the Villalba station).

The kitchen (with all modern utilities) can be used freely by the guests, as well as the dining and living room, where books covering literature, art, and history of Spain and other areas of the world are available for consultation. There is room for 6 to 8 people, but smaller groups of one to four, belonging to the same family or group, are preferable, so everybody can enjoy the place more comfortably and intimately and we can offer better service. In this house you will experience the Sierra style of life in a calm environment, from which you can explore Madrid and other vibrant cultural centers in the area and further away.
