Stresses of city life melts away in the Rectory of Urval guest house.
Located in the heart of the Périgord Noir, this renovated 18th-century rectory stands close to the 12th-century chruch in the medieval village of Urval. The spot is close enough to Bergerac and tourist-honeypot Sarlat but far enough away to relax with the bucolic views on the hills and the restful garden. On the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle way, near Bergerac and Monbazillac wine routes, the place is a stone's throw from swimming and canoeing on the Dordogne river and the perfect basis to explore the Dordogne’s castles and villages. Many local markets are a short amble away.
In the rectory, old meets new. The golden stone house has been completely refurbished. The high quality designer furniture match perfectly well with the carved stone fireplaces. The old house exudes artistic charm with contemporary works of art scattered all over the place. The host is an art lover as well as a wine buff.
Three generous spotless rooms with snowy bed linen are available.
In the double room of the first floor, there is an en suite bathroom and a wood burning fireplace.
In The "Suite bleue" with sofa, armchairs, TV, there is no separate bath-room but a "Box" with bathtub in the room.
Two standard big-beamed rooms are located on the second floor. Both are twin/double rooms with a share bathroom.
Breakfast is on brioche and home made jams, exotic teas and fine expressos, freshly squeezed orange juice and local products.
The Rectory is also available as a self catering house (whole house with four bedooms).
So, as you may imagine, the rectory of Urval is among the very special places to stay in Périgord noir !
