With the house “On the Caves”, an internationally renowned Austrian architect and his wife have fulfilled a life-long dream: the perfect house on the perfect plot, on the idyllic island of Eleuthera. They have recently added a stylish boathouse with a beautifully designed, fully furnished studio on the first floor, which is now available to rent. In addition, the wonderfully laid out garden on the cliffs is the perfect place to enjoy a picturesque sunset every evening.

Guest access
Wykee Estates, situated in the middle of the island, is 5 kilometers from both the main town Governor’s Harbour and its airport.

The manicured grounds link the west and east coasts of the island. The tropical paradise nestles between palms and hibiscus, and can be comfortably strolled across on private paths from the Caribbean Side to the Atlantic in 15 minutes, or in 2 minutes in your rental car.

Right on the beach is a communal swimming pool, which you can use when you rent the property.

A boat ramp with bathing ladder is also located just 100 meters from the cottage and can be used for swimming, snorkeling and fishing whenever you like.

Other things to note
THE PLACE GOVERNOR‘S HARBOR:
Governor’s Harbour is a small, picturesque town in the heart of Eleuthera. Here, you’ll find banks, supermarkets, liquor stores, small shops, bakeries and restaurants.
The town was named for its peaceful harbor; nowadays, the fishermen can be watched cleaning and sorting their fresh catch every day at 3:00 pm. The best way to enjoy the sunset is over a good traditional dinner. There is a good choice of restaurants and beach bars offering something for every taste. The locals are warm and hospitable, and in a couple of days you’ll feel like your part of a big family - that’s what makes Governor’s Harbour so charming.

Dance on the street at the Friday Fish Fry in Governor’s Harbour.

THE ISLAND OF ELEUTHERA:
The island of Eleuthera lies 50 miles east of Nassau in the Bahamas. The name “Eleuthera” comes from the feminine form of the Greek word eléutheros, which more or less means “free”.
The island is known both for its miles of unusually pink-colored sand beaches and for its historic coral reefs.

Discover deserted bays, spectacular cliffs as well as the singularly clear turquoise-colored waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. You’ll be amazed by the Glass Window Bridge, the Hatchet Bay Caves and Surfer’s Beach in the north as well as by the Ocean Hole and Lighthouse Beach at the southern end of the island.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES:
Beachcombing, birdwatching, horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, fly fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and pier fishing, sailing, surfing, tennis...
