Hot tub
This is one of a few places in the area that has this feature.
Hillside House is a quality self contained luxury apartment, with Coral sea views from the front deck and rainforest at the back.
A great place to relax.
Morning coffee can be taken on the rainforest patio among the coolness of the pots of native plants.
The rainforest patio is where you may spot our cheeky forest lizards.
Fred our resident big fat white lipped green tree frog is around somewhere comfy, and if you're very lucky you may see a fawn footed melomy passing through.
If you quietly pop your head over the back fence, you'll likely see a wallaby or a cassowary .
Sundowners on the front deck while enjoying the evening breeze. In fact you may like to have dinner out there too.
The chefs kitchen allows you to pass snacks and drinks through the servery window.
Don't forget to have a swim in the pool.
.

The space
You will have your own private gate and entrance through the potted garden, and courtyard where the bbq and pizza oven are.
The laundry is also accessed in this area.
Your lower floor contains the entrance hall and wine cellar, next to which is The French Room. A comfortable queen size room with french style provincial furniture in it. Airconditioned, but mostly cool anyway because it sits on the rock of the hillside.
Six stairs take you up to the main living area where you will find the lounge, dining room and kitchen. The main verandas are on this level on two sides.
Continue up the stairs to the mezzanine office/library, and you will find the bedroom with the single beds on your left complete with two small work or play desks so the children can use the colouring books and pencils. There are also some building blocks and a toy box.
The other door takes you to the master bedroom with ensuite and spa bath. You have a toilet on this level as well as a private veranda.
Plenty of hanging space for your clothes as well as drawers.
You can see the sea from the bed usually depending on whether the giant tree fern has a new frond or not.
The bed is extremely comfortable.

Guest access
Your aparment occupies the top three floors of the block
Parking is only a few steps away from the gate, on our quiet track.
There are security lights and a camera.
Gekkoes and Skinks often do insect patrols around the lights at night.
You will hear them chirping to each other.
Don't worry they won't hurt you, and they help by eating any cheeky mosquitoes for you. We don't have poisonous frogs in this country either, in fact the green frogs don't seem to mind children who are gentle, and it is not uncommon to see a child with a frog sitting on his shoulder.
There is a hammock to go on the front veranda, so you can dream the day away when you're tired of sightseeing.
If you don't see it, just ask me where it is. We ask that care is taken with any children though, a broken wing is a bummer for the holidays.
The steps down to the pool are down from the potted garden through the rainforest courtyard, (where there is a bench seat, a good place for meditating), The pool gate is there , please keep it closed, and skip down the steps to the pool. There are usually a few pool toys there, noodles, etc.
Don't let the children race down the steps as the steps may be slippery if it has been raining.

Other things to note
Flying Fish Point has a cafe/restaurant that is popular with the local.
They do excellent, breakfasts, and dinners.
Fish and chips , coffee and snacks,

Location

Flying Fish Point, Queensland, Australia

Flying Fish Point is a very popular and pleasant place to visit.
There are some good walks from just strolls along the beaches to the more energetic one all the way to the Ella Bay National Park.
The track to Ella Bay National Park is popular with mountain bike riders, but not too strenuous.
You could have a stroll from Flying Fish Point along to The Coconuts Beach, which is good for a morning exercise.
The estuary of the Johnston River can be clearly seen from The Coconuts, with some interesting boat traffic.
Further out in the shipping channel, you could perhaps spot The Pacific Dawn or some other passenger cruise boat.
Especially pretty at night from the veranda, when they go past lit up like Christmas trees.
You will also see the freighters sometimes waiting for the correct tide to get into Mourylin Harbour to load up with sugar .

We are retired now but in a previous life we worked in hospitality and law enforcement. We love spending time on the water, sailing, fishing or just exploring. We have enjoyed traveling and used to belong to an international home exchange, and enjoyed hosting many interesting guests from all over the world. We enjoy books, and art, I really enjoy painting, and have hung some of my work in the house. Don't laugh. We enjoy people, and love to share our beautiful area with them. I love to cook and Gordon loves to eat.

During your stay
You probably won't even see Eileen and Gordon, unless you need help with any local knowledge or problem solving.
We'll probably be playing on the river, fishing or sailing, but you will always be able to reach us by phone.
We are sociable and love to meet new people so don't hesitate to seek us out if you get lonely.
