Cusheon Cove Cottage-Loft is a private accommodation inside Ruckle Provincial Park on Salt Spring Island. We are located in a nature-lover's paradise - the ocean is just a few steps away. It's perfect for the adventurous and the romantic!

Great rental for solo travellers, couples or small families wanting to celebrate a special occasion, or just to get away from it all. We are pet-friendly and kid-friendly.
Please also see our listing for Cusheon Cove Cottage - our oceanfront accommodation!

The space
The Loft is on the top floor of a single building beside Cusheon Cove in Ruckle Park - it is very private and is a 'one-of-a kind' location on Salt Spring Island. For the more adventurous, there is hiking, boating and fishing right out your back door. For the less adventurous, this is probably one of the best places on the planet to just sit back and chill out.

The Loft does NOT have cooking facilities inside, but it does have a microwave, coffee maker, kettle and basic amenities. Cooking is NOT PERMITTED in the Loft. There is an outdoor BBQ you can use, and you are welcome to use our firepit to enjoy a backyard campfire in the evenings (except during fire bans).

Once you have visited this place, you will want to come back - we have many visitors who return each year. If you wish to stay during the summer months (June-August), we suggest you book early.

Situated on the largest of the Southern Gulf Islands, Salt Spring's surrounding waters are known for excellent boating, kayaking, fishing, marine exploration, diving and swimming on the warm days! Exceptional marine life and an un-spoilt atmosphere make Cusheon Cove a majestic setting of unparalleled quality and beauty.

Guest access
Guests have their own private living area with views of the ocean and a beautiful meadow in Ruckle Park.

You are welcome to explore around our property, and of course Ruckle Park is right outside your door. Feel free to come and visit the backyard of the main house and enjoy the ocean views and outdoor fire pit (note local fire bans, please).

We ask that you please respect the privacy of the Cottage guests, and encourage you to make new friends. The Cottage seating area is reserved for the Cottage guests.

Other things to note
There are multiple trails radiating out from the Cottage through the rain forest of Ruckle Park or along the coastal waterfront of Salt Spring. You can explore the trails with your dog(s), admire the largely untouched first growth trees or walk the "Chris Hatfield" Trail. The ocean is right outside your door, so bring a canoe, paddle board or kayak. The waters are pretty cold, but the adventurous can take a dip!

Location

Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada

Our space is very private and somewhat remote, but that's the main attraction. There are multiple trails radiating out from the Loft through the rain forest of Ruckle Park or along the coastal waterfront of Salt Spring. You can explore the trails with your dog(s), admire the largely untouched first growth trees or walk the "Chris Hatfield" Trail. The ocean is right outside your door, so bring a canoe, paddle board or kayak. The waters are pretty cold, but the adventurous can take a dip!

In the past year, we had 5 sightings of Orcas (killer whales), and 2 sightings of humpback whales. I had the pleasure of seeing a humpback whale about 50 m from our dock in April 2019! Seals, sea lions, otters, porpoises and other marine life are commonly seen. The birdlife if amazing as well, with eagles, Great Blue Herons, and many more. It's an ecologist's dream to visit this place!

In the early 1900s, our property was the site of a sawmill, where over 100 people lived and worked. The rich history of the site has been captured in the Bulman Museum, which is a short walk from the Cottage.

We have over 200 apple trees on the property, including over 150 varieties of apples. Each fall, we participate in Apple Fest on Salt Spring Island, and open our doors to guests from around the world who come to enjoy our fabulous apples and majestic scenery at our place. It is really an amazing location, and you should check it out yourself!

It's a perfect place to get away from the day-to-day grind of city life....

I'm a semi-retired Canadian, and I live in a lovely log home on Salt Spring Island, BC. I have worked as an environmental consultant for over 25 years, and have traveled all over the world for business and pleasure. I have a lovely wife and 5 children (2 are grown up, and 3 live with us on the Island). We speak English, French, Lao and Thai. We enjoy being a host on Airbnb, and hope that visitors will love our place as much as we do. We have 2 units which we rent out: the COTTAGE and the LOFT. We are kid-friendly and pet-friendly. Both the Cottage and Loft provide direct access to one of the most beautiful places in BC - Ruckle Provincial Park - where you can go hiking, boating, or just chill out by the ocean. It's a very special place. We are very easy-going and flexible, and welcome guests with a similar 'joie de vivre'. Cheers, Tom
