A spacious family house with 3 bedrooms and a garden on the ground floor in one of the coziest neighborhoods of Amsterdam! Close to public transport, 10 minute bike-ride to center and close to many shops, supermarkets and fresh-markets.

The space

Our apartment is located on the east side of Amsterdam, close to the center and area “De Pijp”. It’s on the ground floor and has a garden in the back. We live here with our three small children since November 2012 and love living here. It’s spacious, light and cozy. Its cool in the summer and comfortable in winter.

(DUE TO BAD EXPERIENCES IN THE PAST, FIRST THIS IMPORTANT NOTE:
In the house smoking or using drugs is prohibitid. It has been specially designed for families or at least for people who behave quietly, and respect our family home and neighbours. The house is NOT SUITABLE FOR large groups of young people, students or partypeople. If you are, for example, 4 guys of 18-35 years, please don't even try to make a reservation, we are really looking for families etc and older people.)

The apartment is very light, with big windows on the street side. It has a living room and a dining room that are connected to an open kitchen. The dining room has a big table that can seat at least 8 people. We always sit in the dining-room, it’s the best place of the house :). From the kitchen there is a door to the garden. The dining room and kitchen are partially separated by a bar, but open. The kitchen has all facilities (big fridge, freezer, microwave, 2 ovens and 6 unit cooking stove, floor heating, a grinder for fresh coffee, a blender, toaster, etc).

There are 3 bedrooms. As our family grew since the pictures were taken, the 3rd (and smallest) bedroom is the master bedroom now. We have built an elevated bed that's easy to access. The biggest bedroom is the children's bedroom with a big bunkbed. It has a door to the garden. The other small bedroom is now the room for our 1 year old boy and has a crib. An extra 2 mattresses can be added. Our house can accommodate 4 people, but could also host a family with 3 children for example.

The garden is located at the back of the house and has sun the morning. There is a big table that can easily fit 6-9 people. It’s surrounded by other houses, but it’s quiet and not windy which makes it a very comfortable place to be. The wooden playing house is not there anymore. The garden is safe for children as there is no access to the street.

Exploring the neighbourhood
-There are 3 supermarkets around the corner. One is open daily until 10pm.
-There's also an excellent daily (farmer's) market in walking distance. It's called "the Dappermarkt". Great for fresh fruits, veggies, nice cheeses, fresh fish and even some great Asian and turkish supermarkets.
-A shopping street/ mall (open) is in walking distance for almost all the things you need.
-There's also a lovely park nearby "Oosterpark". Only a 5 minute walk away from the apartment. In summer it has a great playing pool for small children and its ideal for pick-nicks.
-The Amsterdam Zoo: “Artis” is at walking distance
-The IJ-Brewery located in a typical Dutch Windmill is the place to be to drink beer with Dutch cheese on Friday afternoons (or any time for that matter).
-Nice restaurants (cheap and expensive and international kitchen) and bars on Beukenplein, Lineausstraat and a 10 minute bikeride to the center.
-Possibility to use our bikes
-Easy access from and to Schiphol and train stations.
- tram 9 stops around the corner and takes you to the zoo in 2 min, to Waterloo square in 5 minutes, to Rembrand square in 8 minutes, and to Dam Square in 12 minutes. It ends at central station (15 minutes), which gives you access to canal cruises, red light district, Nieuw Markt, and much more.
- tram 3 and 7 also stop in walking distance. Tram 3 takes you to the area called De Pijp, to Museum square (Van Gogh museum, Rijks museum, Stedelijk Museum), Vondelpark and ends in the western part of Amsterdam. Tram 7 takes you to the Jordaan area, and ends up in West as well.

We do have a cat who we would like you to take care of. If you don't like cats, or are allergic for example, this is not the apartment for you unfortunately. She is not high maintenance, very shy (so you probably will hardly see her) and has never harmed anyone. She is used to children. There is a special door to go outside. A little love, food and water is all she needs.

We would love it if other couples or families could stay in our apartment and enjoy Amsterdam, while we are on holiday enjoying the house of someone else!

We are both Dutch, have full time jobs, have been living in Amsterdam for about 15 years and love it every day. We are in our mid thirties, we have a daughter of 4 years, a daughter of 2 years old and a newborn baby boy and we will leave you a whole list of fun and unique things to do in Amsterdam, outside the ordinary tourist attractions :) Looking forward to meeting you!

This is a family friendly home within easy walking distance to trams serving Amsterdam. There are a lot of children in the area and very friendly neighbors. Supermarkets and restaurants are nearby making an extended stay easy.

Sara's place is a nice, clean and big apartment in the east of Amsterdam. Sara has been very welcoming and easy to communicate.

Sara was extremely helpful, left detailed notes for everything and even organised the bedrooms to suit our needs. The place is quite spacious and located in a residential street, but is only a few minutes from a supermarket, cafes/bars/restaurants, and only a 20 minute cycle from the central area of Amsterdam. Thank you for having us!

Sara's house is exactly as described. We found everything perfect and we had a very nice stay. Sara's house is clean and comfortable. It is very easy to move around and to go to the city centre from there. I recommend it!

What a wonderful experience! We were able to find the apartment easily, following Sara's well outlined instructions. As we walked in, both my partner and I felt an instant sense of warmth and comfort. This apartment was clean, airy, modern, charming, beautiful...and had everything we needed to make the most of our stay in Amsterdam. The kitchen was great, and we enjoyed cooking our dinners rather than eating out all the time. It felt like Sara goes the extra mile to make sure her guests feel comfortable - her house manual was great, especially the suggestions of what to see and where to hire bikes. The neighborhood felt welcoming and safe, and the apartment was close to everything you need - supermarket, bike hire shop, tram stop. We also loved hanging out with the cat during our down-time! Overall, we had a perfect stay and it made being in Amsterdam that little bit more special. I would recommend this place to everyone - couples, families, friends. Thank you Sara!

We are both Dutch, have full time jobs ( I work for a non profit company working with SMEs in developping countries and my partner is an energy trader), have been living in Amsterdam for about 10 years and love it every day. We are in our early thirties and have a daughter of 2 years old and a 2 month old baby girl. We love travelling and even with small children we have discovered its still a lot of fun! Airbnb is perfect for us as it gives you much more freedom, we love cooking for example and having a kitchen available is such a big plus compared to a hotel. Looking forward to meet you!
