Guest access

The house is yours to use in full! Enjoy.

Interaction with guests

If we're not in the city when you come through, we'll make sure you have everything you need. But otherwise, we are out of sight!

The neighbourhood

Queen West is widely known as Toronto's most culturally rich neighbourhood, with a high concentration of great restaurants, bars, boutique galleries, high-end shops, vintage and antique gold mines.

Getting around

Centrally located, the house is less than a 1 minute walk to the 501 Queen Streetcar and 5 minutes to the Bathurst streetcar, which is a 10 minute shot to the Bloor Subway or south to the Lakeshore.

Other things to note

Reviews — We only rent to people with Airbnb reviews.

Heat/AC — We have a Nest, so it should regulate itself. It turns on when you come home and never gets above or below a certain temperature. But if you do open the doors and windows, please turn it off (in the hallway) so that we're not air conditioning the whole city!

Backyard plants — Our plants get thirsty, especially the ones in the backyard during the summer. Do you mind watering the herbs in the backyard? As much as you like (daily is the dream), but at like once or twice while you're visiting would be so appreciated.

WIFI — The network is "duckblanch" and password is "bettycrocker"

Neighbours — If anyone asks, you're friends of ours. Some people are squirly about Airbnb and we don't want to upset neighbours. We always just get people to say they're friends of friends of friends to keep the peace! Our neighbours are all magnificent humans.

Garbage — We do not compost, so please put all compostables in the garbage. Recyclables go in the bin with the blue bag. Outside, black bin is garbage and blue bin is recycling. It gets picked up Tuesday AMs. So if you're staying over a week, please put out the garbage or recycling (they rotate weeks) and do as the neighbours do to figure out if it's a garbage or recycling week.

Music — If you want to connect to our sound system from your iphone, turn on your wifi, select Airplay and choose "Marantz". There's also a bluetooth speaker in the bathroom.

And here are some neighbourhood suggestions:

Coffee — Sam James on Queen West, across from the park (2 minute walk)

Restos — Mamakas (Ossington), Rhum Corner (Dundas), Bar Raval (College), Union (Ossington), Dai-Lo (College), People's Eatery (Spadina), cheap and delicious pho at Golden Turtle (Ossington)

Cocktails — Cocktail Bar, Northern Belle, Bellwoods Brewery (more beer)

Galleries — ROM, AGO, little galleries along Queen West and Dundas West

Bikes — there are bike stands everywhere; get bikes!

Island — I don't know if you have time, but if you do, go! Best to grab a water taxi for $10 at the bottom of Spadina where it meets the water. Search on the search engine that I shall not name, lest Airbnb bleep it out, for water taxi to the Toronto island. But generally, you're good to just go down to the dock there and hop on one — not normally too long a wait. And then take the public ferry back (for free!). Bring wine and water and snacks. And bathing suits.

There is no place I'd rather stay in the city. Anna's cottage is beautiful, cozy, and felt like home. An incredible neighborhood, walking distance to some of the best spots in town. We stayed here with our five month old and it could not have been easier. She was a great host, providing prompt communication. I'll definitely stay here again, book it if it's available!

Anna is by far one of the nicest Airbnb hosts I've had. Very quick to answer all of my questions, Anna made sure that we enjoyed ourselves. Also her home is SO nice! Wonderful location too.

We're a couple that splits our time between LA and Toronto. We love our little spot in Toronto and want to open it up to the good people of the world to be loved and lived in when we're not here to love and live in it!

Bon voyage! Till soon xo / Anna + Pete
