Cheery, sunny, private first floor room with semi-private bathroom. Gorgeous setting on two acres with prairie, large trees, vegetable and flower gardens and historic barn. Quiet, close to Dexter, Chelsea, Ann Arbor and a 30,000 acre state park.
"It's like a vacation every day here!" is how one visitor described a stay at Rancho Tranquilico. The modern farmhouse is bright, airy and cool in Summer and warmed from a wood stove in Winter; the deck has views of magnificent sunsets all year. Spring gardens burst with blooms of rescued native wildflowers; in Fall prairie grasses and flowers tower up to eight feet tall. I grow much of my food organically in a series of garden beds and harvest strawberries, raspberries and grapes on site. I host the local bands of friends in my 130 year old barn a number of times each Summer.
Guests are welcome to roam the first floor (excluding my office), the deck and the extensive gardens.
Interaction with guests
I have a home office so I'm around most of the time. Happy to share recommendations on restaurants, outdoor recreation and entertainment.
Other things to note
Breakfast typically consists of scratch home made whole grain pancakes and waffles with local fruit and eggs, real maple syrup, home made jam, bacon or sausage, tea. Pretty good stuff!
No smoking. Quiet time at 9:00 p.m.
I run a consulting business saving land from development. I grow a lot of my own food and whip up some pretty good grub. I am an avid music fan and host parties in my barn. I'm an outdoors enthusiast, leading hikes and paddling trips for local nonprofits. No one knows the local wild lands and rivers better. I camp often but also like to clean up in a nice B&B before dinner out.
