Our 4-Clover Ranch "Cabinette" is a cozy, rustic and private cabin on our ranch 13km south east of the town of Rocky Mountain House. The one room cabin has basic amenities for a comfortable stay including an outdoor shower house with hot water on demand.
Enjoy the outdoor fire pit or the indoor wood heater with plenty of complimentary firewood. It is an ideal spot for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers. Pets are welcome - Please discuss.

The space
We are a secluded ranch which shares the space with an abundance of wildlife. There are opportunities for walks in wooded areas and across pastures or sit and relax by an open fire sipping on a glass of wine or reading a book. This is very much a back to nature experience. The cabin is a single, bright room with a comfortable queen size log bed with a single bunk bed overhead, couch, table, wood heater and running cold water. The toilet is your typical outhouse and there is a cozy shower house with hot water on demand. There is a camping style gas stove & kettle to boil water as well as a firepit with open fire cooking options with plenty of complimentary firewood. The Cabinette has minimal power, run by a solar panel, which is sufficient to charge a mobile phone / ipad. There is reasonably good phone signal. Some devices can pick up our wifi at the cabinette. Your welcome to move closer to our cabin to pick up stronger wifi signal. There is no fridge. A coolbox is provided if you wish to bring a bag of ice. The tap water is potable however bottled drinking water is provided for those who prefer that. Coffee and tea is also provided.

Location

Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada

A very quiet rural community and only a short 15 minute drive to Rocky Mountain House ('Rocky') with an abundance of shops, recreation, restaurants and tourist sites. The district is in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Undulating country, mostly cattle grazing pastures with patches of aspen and spruce woodland and some cropping (mostly canola, barley, oats). The large, North Saskatchewan river brings snow melt water from the Rocky Mountains, through 'Rocky' and eastwards all the way to Hudson's Bay. On the banks of the river is the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site, where the Fort / Trading Post was first set up over 200 years ago. They have a display herd of bison. Worth a visit.
'Rocky' is a launching place to access the beautiful Rocky Mountains. If your looking for a route with less tourist traffic to the mountains, the David Thompson Highway (#11) is the road for you. Heading west you will pass through large tracts of forested Crown land before the mountain peaks rise up to meet you. Stop at the hamlet of Nordegg, visit Cresent falls, drive alongside the incredible blue waters of Abraham Lake, take some hikes before joining the main Parkway between Banff and Jasper. Early mornings or evenings is the best time to see wildlife. We are about a 90 minute drive (no stopping) from the North Saskatchewan Crossing.

Kim is of Danish descent, lived most of his life in Alberta. Helen is Australian. We have travelled extensively throughout Europe, North America and Australia. We own property in Australia as well, where you could come visit us. We try and find summer year round. Our property Alcheringa in Victoria Australia is not unlike 4-Clover Ranch. Both places use the sun and wind to generate electricity. You will be amazed with this up and coming technology. We enjoy ranching, nature and travel. With those interests we are sure to connect with you whatever your back ground and wherever you call home. We live simply, to simply live.

During your stay
We have lived on the ranch since 1992 and know the area very well. We have also travelled extensively throughout Western Canada besides many parts of the world. We have a good level of knowledge of areas worth visiting in our "backyard" of the Canadian Rockies.
You will be right next to David Thompson highway #11 and Cowboy Trail highway #22, corridors to the majestic Rockies taking you west to the midpoint between Banff and Jasper National Parks.
