Other things to note
The accommodation comprises of a newly built large 3 bedroomed contemporary detached house in the glorious South Hams.
The house is situated 150m from Challaborough beach which is a blue flag beach and attended by life guards during the holiday season (May to September). The sandy beach is also on the south west coast path which has been voted 'Britain's Best Walking route twice in a row by readers of the Ramblers Walk magazine, and regularly features in lists of the world's best walks.
Bigbury on sea and the fantastic Burgh island with its pub can accessed at low tide and is roughly five minutes walk away around the headland. The dramatic island and its art deco hotel have been used as setting for many television dramas. In the opposite direction you can discover the rugged Ayrmer Cove which is a 15 -20 minutes walk towards Mothecombe.
On the Challaborough beachfront you will find a local minimarket stocking summer goods and essentials, a friendly rustic café serving takeaway fish and chips, and a licenced waterfront bar and restaurant. Large supermarkets (Tesco and Morrison’s) can be found in the nearby market town of Kingsbridge (8 miles) as well as a bustling high street.
Other local amenities include friendly golf clubs at Bigbury and Thurlestone, a water sports school in the nearby Bigbury on sea. Local traditional village pubs serving food also can be found in nearby Ringmore, St Anns Chapel, Bantham and Kingston. The popular Oyster Shack is also very close.
The surrounding area is recognised for it’s outstanding natural beauty with many country walks to be enjoyed using the house as a base without the need to drive at all.
A short drive away are the pretty towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Dartmouth and Totnes for sightseeing, shopping and days out. A huge selection of award winning beaches can be discovered nearby including Thurlestone, Bantham (best beach in UK - Lonely planet 2015), Mothecombe as well as the quaint Hope Cove.
The property is eminently suited for a wonderful family holiday and comfortably sleeps 6 although special arrangements will have to be made for 6 adults.
Travel cot plus bedding, high chair and safety gate are all provided if required.
The house has Wi fi coverage.
Please note that the house is part of a working site with the final phase of building still in progress, as the first to be built we are some way from the works and as such it does not really affect our home. The area still being worked will be cordoned off.
