About this listing

Nestled into the woods across from a hayfield, the Blue Roost is a brand new 1000 square foot super energy efficient home. You'll enjoy the beautiful (south and east facing) first-floor bedroom and a private bathroom.

The space

Nestled into the woods across from farm fields, the Blue Roost is an elegant, brand new (we finished construction in April), 1000 square foot super energy efficient home. You'll have the downstairs bedroom (organic cotton sheets) and bathroom, and share the common areas with me, Wendy. Feel free to cook up a storm, wash your well-traveled clothes, and pick my brain about Maine. This is a great space for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.

Generous windows, skylights, and a cathedral ceiling create a lovely open space. Birds-eye maple floors, cherry cabinets, and a premium gas range provide a great dining experience. The sunroom has a woodstove to take the edge off chilly evenings. One bedroom with a queen bed is on the first floor. The master bedroom is on the second floor. See floor plan images for details. Fully furnished, including kitchenware and washer and dryer. We’re in the process of planting gardens!

You'll have access to all common spaces, including the kitchen, laundry, living room, loft, and sunroom. Please respect the privacy of my closet spaces, garden, pantry, and fridge foods.

I'll likely be around to help you with anything you need. Diego--an orange, blue, and green parrot--will be in his cage eager to greet you.

Private setting set among fields and farms, with close access to great outdoor recreation, including and hiking. Freeport, Brunswick, and Portland are all close by.

The location wonderfully blends nature and privacy with convenience to dining, shopping, and recreation.

The Blue Roost is really close to Freeport, but far away enough to give travelers their own space. The room is very clean and tidy as well as the bathroom. Wendy was very hospitable and had a spread of breakfast foods for us. This was my mother's first Airbnb experience and it was a great one!

We were traveling with our 18 month old little son and staying at the Blue Roost with Wendy was just perfect! Everything was very welcoming. Wendy was very hospitable and helpful, she gave us a lot of great tips for things to do in Maine with a little child. The house was very clean and child-friendly and of course there was also Diego, Wendys parrot, our sons new colorful friend.

Wendy was extremely helpful in ensuring our arrival was smooth and easy. We had no worries about getting in too late or figuring out where to go. Wendy was also wonderful in offering suggestions on the local area and in helping us figure out how to make coffee! The bed was actually one of the most comfortable we had ever slept on, and because it was quiet and dark and calm, an excellent night's sleep was granted to us both. Plus, the bathroom and kitchen were both really clean and the house is just beautiful!

Wendy went above and beyond as a host. She was extremely generous and gracious. The house is beautiful and clean. She had toiletries and snacks available. Wendy is an absolute plesure to talk to and the definition of clean living. The property is private and quiet. 15mins away from Portland and right down the road from Freeport. She is very knowledgeable about the area and has plenty of suggestions on where to go and what to do. I will definitely pick this location again next visit.

Wendy is a very cool host as well as very accommodating and thoughtful. Her home is super clean, environmentally friendly, and offers all a traveler would need. The house is surrounded by beautiful Maine scenery and is 25 min drive from Portland and within 1.5 hours of less from amazing places such as Booth Bay, Ogunquit, and Cape Neddick. Whenever you decide to visit Portland and South / Mid coast Maine, definitely consider Wendy's brand new home.

Greetings! I'm excited to share my newly completed energy-efficient home. I love traveling; Airbnb has opened a whole new way to be comfortable while exploring new places. I chose Maine as my place to live for its stunning coastline and landscape, and have lived here for 30+ years. As a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and Maine Outdoor Adventure Club, I can often be found on a hiking trail, paddling, or skiing. I hope you enjoy your getaway time!
