The North Fork is home to vineyards, quaint towns and quiet beauty. The cottage is 5 houses from the beach and a small shady playground. The house also has access to a private beach down the road. There are two winding inlets on either side of the long beach which are great for kayaking and fishing.

A lovely winter getaway and writer or artist’s retreat, the location inspires contemplation and peace. Special off season pricing make the cottage affordable as a winter season haven.

The space
The house is freshly painted and has all the conveniences. Games, toys and books fill the bookshelves. Two living room areas allow for added privacy and quiet mornings if some of the household are sleeping in.

Guest access
The house has a lofty ceiling, which gives it an open feeling. The backyard has a tire swing and a seating area with a fire pit - fun in all seasons. Look at the stars at night with the lovely smell of the trees and leaves.

Other things to note
There is an outdoor shower and back garden.

In the heart of the North Fork, don’t forget to check out the local Cutchogue diner and the fantastic sand which shop across the street. Take a ride to Greenport (bike if you want) and check out the lively harbor town filled with restaurants and antique shops. Don’t forget the local breweries - great for families and dogs to hang out all day. Go fruit picking and visit all the little quaint farm stands selling the best pies you can find anywhere.

I am a single woman with a passion for knitting and bridge. I work as an attorney in the public sector and have 3 children 18 and up. I enjoy traveling with my children and with friends. I live in a Brooklyn brownstone and love to garden, and cook and take care of my two dogs. I also am passionate about the beach. I have a cottage in the North Fork of Long Island close to the water which I rent out when I can’t use it. It’s a perfect respite from a very chaotic world and provides a sense of serenity and inspiration in all seasons. When I travel, I prefer to stay in smaller, more homey settings where I can experience the culture of the place I am visiting. I don't usually like big hotels, tours or anything involving large groups of people. I started hosting English language students and especially love to host single travelers who like the feeling of having a home away from home. Many guests keep in touch and I feel like I have made great connections with interesting people al over the world.
