Your own cutesy cottage for your exclusive use. With iconic corrugated iron and rural chic ambience, this 3 bedroom arty and family-friendly small cottage is nestled on 7 acres of organic orchards and fields just 3 min drive (15 min cycle) from Mapua seaside village; 25 min Nelson and Abel Tasman National Park. Wineries, artisans, gorgeous rural settings. Super comfortable beds, heritage art and views from property down valley to the sea and mountains beyond. Playground, hand-feedable sheep.

The space
Corru Gate is stylish and different. City chic meets country style in this sunny, private, designer, family-friendly 3 bedroom cottage with an iconically Kiwi flavour on a 2ha farm overlooking the Ruby Coast. (Check out Copper Gate too - our 4 bdrm/2 bthrm new house and Kissing Gate glamping listed on AirBnB). Welcoming and comfortable, semi-detached Corru Gate has a zany kitchen, a classy bathroom (bath with shower over), an open-plan lounge/dining area, and French doors opening onto a sun-drenched deck and designer garden. Fully equipped with dishwasher, laundry, stereo, TV, DVD, telephone, Wifi, BBQ etc, it features quality furniture (including great beds), and NZ art. Corru Gate is focused around sustainability principles with solar power, sustainable design, open spaces, flax, birdlife and native trees. Grab a lemon from the spray-free orchard for your G&T on the deck, or enjoy a delicious grapefruit for breakfast. Ideal for 2 adults and 2 children, with maybe an extra 1-2 adults. 3 bedrooms - check the mezzanine bedroom for suitability.
Set in cycling heaven amongst quiet country roads winding through olive groves and vineyards, Corru Gate has ample room for cycles – or you could hire our electric or standard bikes. Tasman's Great Taste Cycle Trail is right here. Catch the cycle ferry to Rabbit Island. It's a 10 minute ride to Mapua seaside village with its cafes, artisans and stunning inlet. Check The Gates Accommodation website for video, photos, details, rates and availability.

Location

Nelson, New Zealand

Mapua seaside village is the jewel in Nelson's crown - it is Nelson's art, winery, beach, dining hub. Corru Gate is 4 mins away and is nestled in countryside with cycling and walking options through olive groves and vineyards. Abe Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks are within easy access. We have extensive experience on the outdoors (Roger is an ex outdoors instructor).

Adele and I live on 7 acres of Nelson paradise beside Mapua seaside village. We LOVE living here - the artists, beaches, national parks, and Nelson city nearby. Forget about Queenstown being the adventure capital - Nelson is!! Roger is an ex-outdoor instructor and sustainability advisor. Adele has worked in facilitation/training and is currently setting up residential 'Learning Retreats' for women. We have travelled extensively overseas and we love sharing this slice of NZ paradise with others. I guess you would call us liberal thinkers with a love for family, the arts, the environment/sustainability, and outdoor pursuits like tramping, biking and kayaking. Roger's favourite creed? "Life happens while you're making other plans." We've really enjoyed setting up Corru Gate (3 bdrm rural chic cottage), Copper Gate (4 bdrm award-winning eco-designer home) and Kissing Gate (glamping with gorgeous Ruby and Pearl, our 1967 restored retro caravans with outdoor kitchen, bath, pond, decks). You could stay in any of these accommodations since they are all available for travellers - you have sole occupancy of the one you choose. We'd love to meet you!
