With a queen bed and sexy print on the wall, Blanche (of Golden Girl Fame) would approve. This room is pretty spacious and shares the bathroom on the second floor.
Nestled in the woods, The Golden Girl Palace is a true retreat. An easy drive everywhere on the island (centrally located), it has the flexibility you expect from Airbnb with amazing things you would expect at a traditional B and B (Giant kitchen! Outdoor shower! See more below).
Why Golden Girl Palace? Nicole needed a place to land in the middle of her divorce. Linda needed someone to take care of her house while she is on a medical mission in Africa.
The two found one another through mutual friends and an idea was born.
Golden Girl Palace was named after that lovely television show from previous decades. Nicole’s friends joked with her that they should all live in together in this giant house, like the Golden Girls. Nicole realized they were mostly joking but thought it would be fun to share this beautiful house with others for the year she was here.
Also, there are so many ‘Oceanside Cottage’ and ‘Acadia Pines’ stuff on Airbnb... Nicole being a marketer thought a fun name would attract fun people, like you!
The Golden Girl Palace will exist until September 1, 2018 when Linda comes home. Nicole is not sure where she’ll be then (maybe Golden Girl Palace will be relocated!) but if you know anyone who would benefit from a retreat-like environment, please send them over.
Golden Girl Palace is a haven, and now that you’ve stayed here, you’re a part of it too. Thank you for being a friend.
By renting this room on Airbnb, you are helping Linda maintain her home's expenses while she is in Africa and you are helping Nicole spend a year getting back on her feet.
This three floor home is where Linda raised her five children. This year, it's going to welcome hopefully a lot of fun people like you.
Interaction with guests
I am happy to help, I just work a ton in the summer! The great news is we have helpful neighbors and I am almost never more than 20 minutes from the house.
Other things to note
The house has no window coverings. While this is not a voyeuristic issue (you are in the woods), it is a morning light issue. We have sleep masks available if you want them, just leave them behind when you go for future guests (or Nicole will have to buy those dreadful $0.99 masks they give out on airplanes which are terrible).
