Tillicum rests on the LaHave River. We are close to the towns of Bridgewater and Lunenburg and the LaHave bakery. You'll love the incredible sunsets, stars, and privacy. Feeling adventurous or wanting a romantic time? Tillicum can help you achieve dreams! If you are celebrating a special event let us know. We can help make it memorable. This accommodation is best for couples and solo adventurers. Access is by dinghy. Preference for boat systems knowledge.
Tillicum is a west coast built wooden schooner who has traveled thousands of miles to reach Nova Scotia. You will travel by dinghy to reach the mooring. Once there a dinghy will be left with you for easy access to land or touring. Her interior is warm and cozy, and there is a toilet. No need to worry about sea-sickness, as we are far enough away from the ocean so there is no rocking or rolling from the waves! If showering is needed, there is a large solar shower on board. Perhaps you have booked for several nights, then you will be able to shower at the main house. There are cooking facilities aboard ( even refrigeration), or you can choose to have your breakfast cooked at the house and served on the deck or on the dock.
You will have the boat all to yourselves! A freshly baked high protein loaf of bread is supplied, plus some chocolate and trail mix. Specialty teas and honey are also offered. We have the favourite wine of Nova Scotia also available upon request (at a reduced price). We have recently added a wood fired pizza oven, and charge just $12 per pizza - which you build for your own taste! If there is a need for laundry, wi-fi, or shower, please come on up to the house.
Interaction with guests
We are happy to help folks get into town, direct them to special locations, or even take them out on the river for a small extra charge. It is important to have your own transportation to get here, but once here there is biking, dinghy rowing, dinghy sailing, and walking. There is a fishing rod onboard if you care to try and catch mackerel, or come up to the house and take out our pedal boat. Of course there is hanging out on the deck - especially watching the sunset!
Other things to note
There are times when the weather might be a bit cool or damp. Tillicum has a diesel heater for warmth, and extra comforters are also provided. We also provide towels and linens for your overnight stay. If inclement weather is on the horizon, we have an extra bedroom for comfort.
- Conservation of power is important and respect for all instruments and equipment is required.
- The boat is at a mooring and as such uses solar power. Be prepared to experience some camping like conditions at times. Hosts will be available for any emergencies at all times.
- If you have a pet, it should be a smaller dog who can manage water and restricted availability to land.
Please be prepared to arrive at least 45 minutes before dark so we can get you to the boat during daylight and explain the systems to you while there is good light and great ambience!

My husband and I have recently moved to Nova Scotia after having lived in several Canadian Provinces, taught school in China, and travelled by wooden schooner to Nova Scotia from Vancouver. We love to meet up with people and make new friends wherever we go. We like music, the outdoors, the water, boats, sunrises and sunsets, and peaceful times on a lake. We ask questions, like to find out what is going on locally, and eat fresh, local food. Our budget is generally on the low side when travelling, but our hopes and energies are high!
