Peaceful seclusion during the winter months, in an historic house situated in a lovely seaside garden. Perfect for writing, photography, painting, etc.
Can be booked as a retreat only or as a creative retreat (extra fee) with arts workshops/facilities; singly or in small groups.

The space

The house and cabin are situated in a spacious garden by the sea.
There is an outside seating area on decking with views over the sea to the mainland; some of the garden is headland, with hidden places and a path to the shore. Part of the garden is lawn, some of it dedicated to growing fruit & veg, including a poly tunnel; the workshop also has good views.
The house is the old porter's lodge of Armadale castle, it is octagonal with extensions. It has one double bedroom, a kitchen, living room, bathroom, conservatory. The cabin has twin beds and is hidden in the garden, facing the sea. Please see photos for all above.

Guest access

Accommodation in house or cabin (please see other listings), use of workshop, living room with wood burning stove; books, DVDs, music, WI-FI; conservatory with views out to sea; bathroom.
Breakfast and a light lunch are included and served in the kitchen.
(In the evening bar or restaurant meals can had at the Ardvasar hotel - a few minutes walk away).
The kitchen is for eating meals provided, which are vegetarian, and making tea/coffee.

Interaction with guests

I live in and will be available; guests wanting a quiet retreat will not be disturbed. I aim to personalise your stay to suit your requirements.
Guests wanting a creative retreat will have workshop time, exploration and quiet time; individual or group requirements can be discussed and facilitated by contacting me when making an enquiry.
In the local environmental a variety of materials can be found e.g. in the woods, on the beach etc., weather permitting there are good places to work.
Bring your own materials as you wish, and cameras.

Other things to note

Skye weather is unpredictable, constantly changing; warm and waterproof clothing and footwear essential. Torches useful and thermos flasks for walks.
There are many artist, craft, and photographers' studios on Skye; also many musicians, and a reading room (hosting writers); which may be of interest.
