The villa is a two minute walk to the nicest beach in town, and is close to the center of town, dining, shopping, excursions like scuba diving, visiting remote beaches, etc., and has great views and a wonderful sea breeze. The villa is ideal for couples, families (with kids), big groups, business travelers, and pets are welcome under certain conditions. Housekeeping is included, as well as WiFi and a watchman.
Sea Fan Villa has a large living room with very high ceilings and vents so no air conditioning is required. One side of the living room leads to an ocean-facing terrace with an infinity pool with a great view of the ocean and Cabo Cabron. The other to a kitchen and breakfast bar that accommodates several people. There is also a "maid's kitchen" and barbeque grill off the main kitchen.
The master bedroom and two guest rooms open to the infinity pool. All four bedrooms have a private bathroom with hot water. The master bedroom has a king size bed, 2 guestrooms have queen-sized beds, and 1 guest room has 2 single beds. There is also a small children's bed.
The gourmet kitchen is a fully equipped and includes a large gas stove and oven, large refrigerator, blender, etc.
Please be respectful of the watchman and the housekeeper/cook. They are there for your safety and convenience.
You will have access to the entire villa, and nothing is shared with anyone else. Please take good care of the villa and its contents so the owners will continue sharing it with visitors.
Interaction with guests
I am always available to greet and orient guests, as well as being available 24/7, phone and internet service allowing, should you need advice or if a problem should develop. A housekeeper is there each day, as well as a night watchman who usually lives on site. If you want absolute privacy, let me know and I will communicate that to him. There is also an infra-red security system.
Other things to note
We have an expensive, private power company in Las Galeras, but, unlike other parts of the country, seldom go without power for more than a few minutes. For this reason, electricity is at an additional charge and is based on your actual consumption. Plan on about $15 per day.
We can provide a good local cook at an additional charge. Normally, for four, it would be about $25 plus the cost of any food she needs to purchase. You can pay her directly. (She's also the housekeeper.)
There is an additional charge for electricity. 15 pesos per kwh. It usually doesn't amount to a lot, but the owners prefer to charge for it.

Cindy, really. No one calls me Cynthia.
My life motto, which seems to work MOST of the time: Que el viento se lleve tus problemas. (Let the wind take your troubles away.)
I'm fairly well-traveled and had never stayed in the same place for more than 2 or 3 days during any of my travels, though I was often gone from my northern California home for months at a time. Then, because I’ve always been drawn to “end of the road” places, I “ended up” in Las Galeras. I moved here a year later to try it out and never went “home”. I’ve explored most of the DR, but I’ve lived on the Samana Peninsula for almost 10 years and now know it quite well.
Though I have a full time job, the ocean, sun and coconut trees make me feel like I'm still on vacation. Sure, I miss some things about life in the good ole USA. Flying, live music (blues, bluegrass, alternative, jazz), backpacking, my fellow volunteers at Sonoma Land Trust, downhill skiing, high speed internet, wine tasting, second hand book stores, Home Depot, The Golden Gate Bridge, Sierra Club "dog hikes", and my granola-crunching, tree-hugging friends, but I love it here.
My Promise: If you come here as my guest, I promise to do whatever I can to make sure you have a great time. I want you to go home thinking that working, saving, planning, organizing and packing (passport, sunscreen, insect repellent, iPhone charger, swim suit, camera, flip flops, iPod, paperback book/s, umbrella).......and then hauling it all to the Dominican Republic and back was worth it. (And that maybe you’d even recommend it to a friend.)
Hope to see you soon.
