Guest access

You are welcome to all three living spaces, garden & terrace and kitchen.

Interaction with guests

I have worked in tourism in Costa Rica half my life. and I will be happy to help/advice you with your visit and any plan making. I also can design a walking tour of San Jose for you to enjoy.

Other things to note

I am sure you will find this house to be very inviting, peaceful, safe and cozy. It is very quiet for an urban house. You rarely hear sounds from the street, and I have quiet neighbours.
The urban train runs by a few blocks away however, and you will hear it's horn a few times during rush hour, but stops at 8 p.m.

Jerry was a wonderful host. Very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there in a fabulous neighbourhood. He offered a good walking route to downtown and information on sites. Excellent choice of restaurants on the street. And Ramona the dog is lovely!

Hard to imagine a better place to stay while in San Jose. Jerry is a warm and wonderful person and his home is perfect. Jerry was accommodating and always happy to offer helpful insight about where to go, what to do, and how to get there. His home is located in a quaint neighborhood with seemingly endless (fantastic) dining options and it felt very safe to walk around at night. A short walk from there and you will find yourself passing many beautiful parks, shopping, and museums. Have I mentioned what a great host Jerry is? We were leaving for the airport the morning of the Easter holidays and the city was pretty much shut down - short on time and nowhere to grab breakfast Jerry took care of us and made us breakfast so that we could be on our way in time with bellies full. - Light sleepers should consider bringing ear plugs as the early morning commuter train that passes nearby really likes to use its horn ;) Louis

Jerry's place is absolutely lovely. Aside from being wonderfully friendly and helpful host, we really enjoyed the location of his home. His patio is a lovely oasis complete with a fountain, we really enjoyed sitting there for meals. We planned to spend two nights in San José before making our way through the jungle and along the south west coast. We were able to explore all of the walking/market areas downtown on foot. We returned for a single evening before our return flight as well. Jerry's house is in a clean, trendy & relatively upscale neighbourhood that delight us as foodies and reasonably well travelled people. His furry sidekick, Ramona, is incredibly endearing and loving. Personally, we couldn't get enough of the incredible vegetarian and vegan fare all around us. The nightlife seemed fun upbeat. The service all around friendly. Artisan restaurants, ample craft beers, and fresh fruit and veggies vendors can all be found nearby. We felt at home and comfortable waking everywhere, day and night. (It's a very safe area). Jerry was always smiling and happy to help with any questions we had. He gave us great advice about anything we asked. We loved this spot in San José and are very grateful to Jerry for welcoming us like family. We very much look forward to staying again. PS If you're a light sleeper, it's wise to bring earplugs; there's sometimes a passenger train that honks pretty early.

Jerry's beautiful home turned out to be a great place for us to spend out last night in Costa Rica. Not only was his place clean, comfortable and well equipped - its location is steps away from dozens of quality, fun and vibrant restaurants and shops. Jerry and his beautiful little pup Ramona were friendly, welcoming and warm and we would recommend staying there to anyone! Thanks again for a great stay!

Excellent location for restaurants and pubs. Safe neighbourhood within walking distance to downtown. Room is private with adjacent dining and kitchen areas. Bedroom is a good size and contains a very comfortable bed. Jerry is a warm person and welcoming to his guests. The dog is friendly, polite and respectful of your space. We had a great time at Jerry's City Oasis. Highly recommend!

Jerry was a really great host and I loved staying at his home and chatting with him over breakfast. The room is very comfortable, as is the rest of the house. It's also really well located, especially for foodies. It's also a very safe neighborhood with a lot of impressive street art. A note for light sleepers: The train that goes through San Jose passes nearby, and because there aren't any railroad lights/alarms on the street, it honks its horn like crazy when approaching level crossings. So bring earplugs! I did and I slept well. :) I would highly recommend Jerry's place. As a solo traveller he made me feel right at home!
