Bad first. Initially communicated shared space (the dining room) appears to be host's personal room, and she can ask you outta there anytime. Only unreasonable (though emotional) mumbling was provided when I asked how come I'm being asked to go to my room (!) from hostels' shared…
Response from Isabelle:
I guess rudeness talks loud in accusation here lol I usually do not comment back on that kind of unfair/untrue comments, but well, let's put the truth back in... and I actually did not even leave a comment. the guest arrived (shared room) at past midnight, went straight to the lounge room and make himself comfy at the dining table with his own dinner and 2 bottles of alcohol ... remember it is past midnight a week day. He shared one of his bottle with the other guests, which is kind of him I suppose. Well up to that, I would say the guest is a bit "too at ease" but ok. Then wanted to carry on drinking at such a late hour, without considering people needing silence and ... sleep. The other guests declined his offer and I kindly suggested that maybe, it would not be a suitable night or time do do so... he took it badly. Next day : not even "hello". I was on the phone for a while handling a complicated situation. The guest has his breakfast next to me. Fine. After an hour, he went usptairs, came downstairs with his laptop, sat down , put his earplugs in and begin to type on his laptop, next to me while I was on the phone. After an hour, I kindly told him that being on the phone I was unfortunately unavailable for him to have a chat with so maybe he would be more comfortable in his room to do his laptop thing, as there is a desk there specifically for that. he replied "you do not know what a shared space is" lol and begin to argue. I ve even offered the guest the possibility to use the terrace upstairs so he could be in another space than his bedroom.... I well I guess I would have appreciated the respect this guest is requesting. I am hosting via airbnb a lot, and I ve been a guest multiple time. Not once, would I have used the host kitchen, lounge room, withouth asking permission and for sure not at past midnight, sat - without having been invited to do so as if this was my own house - in the host loungeroom to have a little party... Not once, would I seat in the "shared space" with earplugs and a laptop, next to a host, as if they were not there, then argue (the host seems to have issue with ladies and unfortunately my husband was on a trip) Communication and respect is key, for sure :-)
My husband is a great cook, we host mainly young adults or travelers, hence friendly international "ambiance" guaranteed!
