This 2-level loft-style apartment teems with historic character. Its interior brick walls, black & white porcelain tiles, and hardwood floors create an incredibly welcoming ambiance. The place is close to the area's best restaurants and the James River, Blue Ridge Mountains, and the area's four universities are all nearby. Its panoramic views from above the city are wondrous with no late afternoon or evening direct sun. Truly an ideal place for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.

The space
The building itself, "Gilliam House" was built in the mid-19th century and is an exceptional building with exterior and interior walls as much as 5 layers of brick thick. The suite includes some of these brick walls exposed on the interior along with original wood flooring in the living room and classic black and white porcelain tiling in the kitchen and the bathroom. The spiral staircase is "cool" and the suite includes a high efficiency front-loading washer and dryer along with an expansive private back brick patio with views overlooking downtown Lynchburg.

Guest access
The apartment is self contained and guests have access to the entire suite. Please note that the large brick patio behind the suite is also private and is for use only by the guests (and their friends) of this suite.

Other things to note
Please take advantage of the back patio if you have time; it's shaded from about 2:00 p.m. onwards and is a relaxing place to spend a bit of time.

Court Street not only houses, well, the courts of Lynchburg, but it's also the street upon which Lynchburg's wealthiest resided in the city's heyday; in the mid-1800s, Lynchburg had the highest per capita income in the country based primarily on the tobacco trade. Today this translates into Court Street having some of the finest historic buildings/homes in the area with the added bonus that many of the overlook The City (fortunately, The Gilliam House sits just right atop the hill for this). And if one were to worry about security, it should be comforting to know that catty corner to The Gilliam House, in the church building, resides The Lynchburg Police Department.

During your stay
I live and work very close to the building and strive to make myself available for any needs or problems which our guests encounter. Nonetheless, I tend to "stay out of the way" and will generally not impose on my guests and will only come by if requested to attend to an issue.
