This was our first time to use Airbnb, so we did not know what to expect. Prior to our arrival, Sara was incredibly helpful and responsive to my questions. Sara's home is located just off the interstate, close to downtown Charlottesville and to Monticello and the Monticello Wine Trail. Although the check-in time was 3:00 (until 6:00) and we let Sara know we hoped to be there no later than 4:00, she wasn't quite ready for us yet when we arrived. It took her another hour or so to finish cleaning, but that might been due to the fact she was evacuating her home for us on her birthday. She had tons of brochures and information for us on things to do in the area and was very thorough in explaining our options before she left which was very helpful. I had trouble sleeping on one of the beds upstairs which was too hard for my liking, but I moved to an other bedroom and did much better. Our friends, on the other hand, said their bed was too soft. (We probably should have switched after the first night). We didn't use the hot tub since it was so hot outside, but it would be nice when it's cooler. We found the kitchen to be a little challenging. The photos of the kitchen might explain there is some clutter. Sara might consider a little "stuff reduction." We only ate at home for breakfast and one dinner, but ate outside due to having 4 people to try to get around the kitchen table. Sara told us to feel free to move furniture around in the living room if we wanted (although we did not). All things considered we had a comfy home in a great location for a reunion of friends for a long weekend!

Sara was a great host and was very accommodating. The house was in a great location and the trip to UVA's campus was painless. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable stay in a great location.

I like nice decks with great views and this property delivered both. I felt part of nature. We also liked the piano, the walk to the lake [a bit steep, though], and we especially liked the way Sara welcomed us. The house was ideal for the four of us, very close to Monticello, and of course, Charlottesville. I highly recommend staying here, and we will consider in the future.

Response from Sara:
I think I should have raked the walk down to the lake. Will do this from now on for all of our guests. As leaves drop and sticks and twigs land, in the fall months, it would be nice to show the pathway clean and tidy, will pay more attention to this , Thanks for the idea. To get to the dam, there is a rock outcropping that must be climbed over. But it is totally navigable by hugging the outcropping of rock... Its one of those things that you do in your sneakers or running shoes, or hiking boots, not so much in flip flops.. OR for the less adventurous, just enjoy the views from the hot tub on the deck... I am glad Vince and Dawn had a great week. they were fun to host.

Three of us stayed for a couple days and had a wonderful time exploring local wineries and downtown Charlottesville, which is less than 15 minutes away. Sara was a great hostess -- welcomed us with brownies, wine, fresh towels, and a helpful tour of the place. Loved the hot tub and beautiful surroundings!

Sara was a great host. She was communicative, flexible with our check-in time and her house was perfect for our weekend getaway. We loved the hot tub and air hockey table! Sara's house was a short uber ride from downtown Charlottesville. I would recommend Sara's house for a group looking for a quiet getaway.
