Lumley & Co. is located above a general store (now an antique shop called Katnap) built in 1888. It is close to, Pearce Provincial Park, historic sites such as the Southwold Earthworks and the Backus-Page House. There are extensive grounds to the north of the store with Carolinian trees, opportunity for campfires, and within, antique furnishings and the unique atmosphere of a 19th century general merchant's residence. The address is 8979 Iona Road, corner of Back Street.

The space
The bedroom area dates back to the building's construction in 1888 with wood grained doors and trim, and wood plank floors. The bathroom is adjacent to both bedrooms and at the end of a hall. The Morris Room (maximum two guests and containing a double bed) looks north onto the park-like area and the Lumley Room (maximum two guests and containing a queen size bed) faces the Iona Road . In a sense, the bathroom is private as I only rent both rooms to related parties. Locked bike storage is available in a ground floor 1920s addition.

Please note that if you are booking double occupancy (maximum of two guests per room) then the rate is $10 more ($85 + 10 = $95). A second bedroom would be needed for additional guests (same rate of $85 + 10 if there is a second guest).

Guest access
The adjacent parlour and dining room are available for use. This area was redecorated in an Arts & Crafts style around 1910 and has beamed or wood tongue and groove ceilings, and patterned hardwood floors. The furnishings suit the time period. An 11 cubic foot fridge is available for guest use.

During your stay
I leave guests alone if that is their preference, but am readily available should the need arise. I am fully vaccinated against Covid 19 and it is expected that guests will be as well.

Other things to note
It is much appreciated if guests leave their outdoor footwear in the lobby and use slippers indoors. There is air conditioning to alleviate the sultry weather we sometimes get near the lake during the summer. An air conditioner in the parlour cools the dining room as well. There are also ceiling fans in the bedrooms as well as window air conditioners. Please book at least two days in advance.
