Two miles from the University of Maine, Orono. A private home, 10-acre property, adjacent to walking, biking, and cross country skiing trails. You will enjoy the privacy of the upstairs floor, 2 bedrooms, 1 loft bedroom, and loft living room. This is a beautiful Maine farm house in a private, rustic setting. Available seasonally for your use is an 18' above ground pool. In winter months, we recommend having an AWD vehicle.

The space
Your reservation here includes more than a private room. Whether you are a single guest or a group, the entire second floor space is included with your reservation: 3 sleeping areas, closets, a living room and private bath. We are able to fit a double bed quality air mattress in the living room space to host up to 7 guests. The shared kitchen is downstairs on the first floor, available for simple cooking. There is a large table that seats 8. This is a quiet home on a secluded property. Seasonally we offer an 18' above ground pool, and a place to make an outdoor fire. In the winter, our wood stove, with a glass door front, keeps us warm and cozy.

Guest access
Guests are allowed to use the entire upstairs floor and loft area.

Your reservation includes 3 sleeping areas, a small living room, and private bath. The downstairs KITCHEN IS SHARED, and available for making quick, simple meals.

Guests are allowed to store food in the designated area of the downstairs refrigerator. Continental style breakfast is provided, coffee, tea, yogurt, and often a homemade baked good to start your day. The host is happy to cook you a 5-star breakfast for $15/plate, homemade bread, farm-fresh eggs, roasted veggies, and always the best food quality. In season, vegetables often come from our gardens, and eggs from our free-range hens. Guests may use the outdoor charcoal BBQ grill. We are able to host an outdoor fire and wood coal grilling, offered for a fee or work exchange.

Laundry is allowed in an emergency. There is a laundromat one mile away.

The cellar is off limits please.

The deck, pool, and all outdoor yard areas are open to guests. Children require supervision. OUR POOL IS NOT GATED.

Guests may swim in the 18' above ground pooling the back yard. Towels are provided (seasonal). Children must be supervised for their safety.

Guests may purchase wood here, and use the outdoor fireplace (seasonal).

Only the people registered to stay are allowed to use the facilities, unless a special arrangement has been made.

Other things to note
Included in our household is a large dog (a 145 lb Cane Corso - Italian Mastiff), and two cats. If you have an allergy to dogs or cats, or if you are uncomfortable with pets, this IS NOT the place for you.

Location

Old Town, Maine, United States

Our nearest neighbor is about 1/4 mile down the road on either side. We cannot see each other, and or any other buildings in any direction. It is quiet here, but 1/2 mile down the road is local business and a bus route.

I am an retired independent home birth midwife who attended births in Maine for over 25 years. I retired from 40 years of nursing in 2015, and currently work as a medical consultant, herbalist, and homeopath. My hobbies are gardening, landscaping/reforestation, growing and studying herbs and medicinal plants, cooking and baking. We do out best to raise our own food, chickens, eggs, and vegetables/ herbs. When you arrive here, you will be greeted our large dog, Nero, a Cane Corso. Do not be alarmed! He likes to know who is coming in, and quickly settles down to a normal lazy habit of long naps with short play times in between. This is an "early-to-bed, early-to-rise" household. We love the morning, and have lots of work to do here every day. Our dog and 2 cats gather in the kitchen to be fed as soon as they hear puttering. The day has begun! Our interaction with guests varies as guests prefer. We are close to the University of Maine. We are central to several hiking and tourist areas: Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, Bar Harbor, Belfast, Camden, Rockland. I enjoy hosting and meeting new people, and will assure your comfort. We are told we have great hospitality!
