The space
New for 2021/2 (and at the same price as 2020):

• Decking area with hot tub and outdoor shower

Sitting on an old paddock, where pack and pit ponies from the West Polberro mine came to rest and repose, and built as the music room for the local piano teacher, our Cornish stone cottage, in the St Agnes World Heritage style, is built on the ocean-facing land of the West Polberro mine, which allegedly produced some of the finest and largest quantities of tin in the county.

The cottage has almost instant access to the cliff edge with its year-round awesome sunsets and views to the vast sweep of Perranporth beach, yet, as it is set slightly back from the South West coastal path, is wonderfully - and unusually - sheltered from the Atlantic wind and nestled amongst trees.

Out of the St Agnes valley and up on the high land also means that we have an additional few hours of sunshine - have your morning coffee on the patio in the sun and return from the beach in the early evening to still find the south facing garden bathed in sunshine. In the winter months, you'll still find the cottage light throughout the day and it's a really special, peaceful and warm space for just relaxing and reading one of our many books.

If you want to connect to the outside world, or stream a movie on the sofa, there's also super fast wireless internet with a fibre broadband connection.

The little kitchen is well stocked for meals 'at home': fridge/freezer/hobs/microwave/oven/kettle/toaster and all your usual pots and pans etc. - plus, there's a dining table.

Please note the sofa bed is in the main studio living area with the bed.

We hope to have made the cottage as comfortable as possible, using only the softest Egyptian cotton sheets and plenty of fresh towels.

The cottage is perfect who people who love walking. It's just under a mile level walk to the village with all its shops, pubs and other amenities.

Both Simon and I (Kate) have stayed in lots of different places and we really hope to have left all the things that we like when we go away. The cottage is private, within the grounds of our family home.

Hot tub: £20/night extra (per night of booking) which covers cleaning, new filters, energy costs. Please let us know in advance if you would like to use the hot tub so that we can ensure it is ready for you and we can change the cost on airbnb for your approval. Thank you.

Where you’ll be

Saint Agnes, England, United Kingdom

St Agnes is such an exciting place to be throughout the year because of its vibrant community spirit. There are live music, social and community events throughout the year including a Carnival, farmers' markets, fireworks, christmas carols, beach parties and more - put on for the shared love of being here and for the sharing of this joyful experience with others, rather than as a show for tourists.

There's a lovely selection of different cafes, pubs and restaurants serving local food, including locally caught fish, crab and lobster. The Driftwood Spars pub at the beach, with their own brewery, has a wonderful beer garden to eat your fish and chips in while looking at the sea (chippy next to the pub), and always has its fires roaring through the colder months. Great, too, for Sunday lunches.

The blue flag beach at St Agnes is sheltered and great for surfers, particularly for beginners. There are surf lessons available at the beach. Supping and kayaking is also amazing from here. A little further away are the surfing beaches of Chapel Porth, where you can also buy the best icecream in Cornwall, and Porthtowan, where the beach is fun even at high tide. Both excellent for surfers of all levels. Porthtowan also has the Blue Bar - fantastic for dinners and sundowners. All beaches here have amazing rock pools - full of life.

It's very friendly here for active people and children of all ages. Our local beaches and pubs are dog friendly, too. Bike rides, foot paths, hills, tracks, all from the door.

And then... there's the rest of Cornwall. Over 400 beaches. The Eden Project. The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The Tate at St Ives. Sailing on the South Coast. The list goes on and it's all a short journey away from the cottage.

We fell in love with the cottage and the area as soon as we arrived (and we arrived here in January - it just got better and better as the year went on)

Hello! Simon and I live in the beautiful village of St Agnes in Cornwall, where we escaped to raise our two little girls in a place where we can all run wild and free. St Agnes is surrounded by Blue Flag beaches, has Dark Sky Status with exceptional starry skies, and is really close to towns of Truro and sailing in Falmouth - we love playing in the surf, exploring the rockpools, listening to great live music, and eating the amazing fresh local food on offer, inc. for Simon who is veggie. There are brilliant events on all year round and a very friendly community atmosphere. We love living here and also love meeting new people both at our home and when we travel further afield.
