The Space

Welcome to Strathcona -- one of Vancouver's most sought-after neighbourhoods!

This studio suite offers high ceilings, gorgeous bay windows, exposed beams and polished concrete. It is the garden level of our beautiful heritage house, located right next to downtown. The house has been meticulously renovated, and the suite is wonderfully appointed and finished to the highest standards, including a soaker tub and heated towels in the bathroom, private entrance, flat screen TV with surround sound, wireless internet, queen-sized bed with luxury sheets, queen-sized pull-out sofa, and open-concept kitchen/dining area. There is well-maintained landscaping in the garden outside, and the house is literally steps from MacLean Park, in the heart of the neighbourhood.

There is lots of street parking right out front, and the house is a block from several wonderful delis, grocers and cafes. There's even a fantastic cheese shop and french restaurant less than three blocks away! Best of all, it is ten minutes' stroll to historic Gastown, five minutes to the seawall in False Creek, ten minutes to Rogers Arena. There are frequent buses less than two blocks away, as well as a nearby Skytrain station. We also have two vintage bicycles available for use -- and we're one block off of the city's busiest bike route on Union Street.

Enjoy the pleasure of your own front door! You will be amazed by the peace and tranquility, so conveniently located in the heart of the city. This suite is fully equipped and an ideal 'home away from home' for travelers seeking short or long-term accommodation, and an alternative to uncomfortable hotels. No elevators, no undergraound parking -- instead, we have a lock-box system in place for the key, so it's easy to arrive at your leisure.

  • Great to have bikes available for use. Lovely neighbourhood with nice cafés nearby. Easy walking distance to China town and Gas town. Nice, clean apartment.

  • Great little pied a terre in a quiet neighbourhood in Vancouver. Beautifully designed studio apartment, very quiet at night. Parking can be tricky if you get home late - luckily I had a very small car. Overall loved the apartment and hope it doesn't get too popular so I can come back again!

  • Stayed here 9/2013. What a great place....complete studio including kitchen facilities. Ultra clean, proper linens, wonderful bathroom. Met Samantha briefly upon arrival then it was come and go as you please. Welcome privacy!
Vancouver is spectacular overall, although a little seedy north of (East?) Hastings St. Location is a few blocks over which we were reminded of and never chanced it. Stuck to Union St. as our main thoroughfare. Good access to Skytrain and Aquabus. Overall great and yes, I would stay here again.
P.S. I am a veteran traveler and do not let the little things bother me!

  • We loved staying at Samantha and Jason's apartment. It was extremely clean and just what we needed to come back to after a long day of visiting and walking around the city.

We had a tiny issue with the key padlock when we arrived but it was very quickly resolved, thanks to Jason. Samantha and Jason also created a nice info booklet. It was much appreciated and we used it a lot to find answers to our questions.

Vintage bikes: we used them a lot! We were so grateful for them and they allowed us to see so many things in the city.

Location: great! Very close to the bus routes (we took the bus often) and to a few main attractions. We grabbed a coffee at The Wilder Snail every morning before exploring Vancouver.

    Thank you Samantha and Jason!

  • My husband and I had a great stay at Samantha & Jason's studio when we were in town for a mini-vacation/running a half marathon. It was an ideal location for us and super easy to get downtown on the bikes they had available with the rental. Jason & Samantha were super helpful, friendly and accommodating and the place was great!

  • We had a great time in Vancouver and staying in the apartment of Samantha and Jason was definitely part of it!
The apartment was spacious and clean and especially during the hotter days it stayed cool inside.
Jason and Samantha certainly know how to make guests feel welcome!

  • This apartment is located in the basement of a charming older house in the Strathcona neighborhood, just east of downtown Vancouver. It's walking distance from Vancouver Pacific Central Station (from which you can access a train to Seattle, bus/ferry to Victoria, etc.) and quite a few restaurants and bars.

Samantha and Jason were responsive and had the place very clean and ready for our visit. There was even good coffee (and a French press!) and some food in the refrigerator for a light breakfast.

There was a little noise from the floor above in the morning, but it wasn't bad, as we were rising early, anyway. If you plan on sleeping in, earplugs or a white noise machine may be a good idea.
