The location of the loft is in the perfect area of town very close to the river and Calderon park. I loved waking up early every morning in going for a walk along the Rio Tomebamba, there is also a great American breakfast spot called the sunrise Café a few doors down Calle (URL HIDDEN) yourselves a favor and eat at The O Dining Room, Philippe is an amazing chef and the food is outstanding. The loft itself is perfect for the solo traveler or two people if you have any fear of heights or trouble climbing a very narrow staircase the loft bedroom is probably not for you.with that being said there is a great deck that I spent a lot of time on reading and enjoying the weather

Manolo was great, and met us for check-in very late due to a flight delay. The loft is lovely and full of touches of craftsmanship. Location is perfect for Calle Larga and destinations in the square are just a few blocks. A few inconveniences included a lukewarm shower, and cold evenings in the loft (there isn't any heat), and noise from the neighbors (dog and music).

I'm really surprised by the glowing reports from other persons who stayed here. The location is excellent and the shower has good pressure, other than that the place is a dump. The carpentry was done by an inspired amateur, the spiral stairway is genuinely unsafe. The place was dusty and the pillows and bed had a bad odour. In general it was not particularly comfortable. In the evening you must enter the courtyard via a passageway with no light, often dodging dog excrement and the lock to the courtyard is a nuisance. I would never recommend anyone staying here.

Manolo is a warm and friendly host. The loft is conveniently located, although returning home after midnight has a very urban, gated feel. The loft is small but cozy. Negotiating the steep, narrow spiral stairs to come downstairs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night was a little challenging. Manolo keeps a very clean and tidy place. There is a gas cook top and fridge, no toaster or microwave or oven. As is typical in Cuenca, there is no hot water except the shower. It is a good shower. The patio is small and pleasant, but noisey due to renovations in the adjacent building. I especially enjoyed the closeness to the Rio Tomembamba, Mercado 10 Agosto, San Fransisco Market, Plaza Calderon, Jazz Society, Inca Bar, and many other fun spots. As a 62 Y.O. triathlete man, I suggest that unless you are pretty agile or younger, this may not be the place for you- but I enjoyed it very much!

We found Manolo's place fun, comfortable, and convenient with its unique design. The location is close to all markets and restaurants and the people in the area are friendly and helpful. Manolo was a gentleman and became a great friend and guide. He introduced us to some of his great neighbors, and they are some of the finest people we've ever met. I recommend Manolo and his apartment in the highest terms. Thank you Manolo, Felipe and Pedro for the great conversation, guidance and friendship!

Manolo was a gracious host, and was keen to make sure we were comfortable. Our home for a week was exactly as depicted in his photos. It is a tiny treasure, beautifully designed and with an inviting juxtaposition of materials and textures. Loved staying here even just to enjoy the aesthetics. Calle Larga itself is a noisy street, but this place is at the back of the block, and we barely heard the traffic. The little courtyard garden is a lovely splash of sunlit greenery. Two other little touches we appreciated that are unusual in places we've rented: the pans weren't worn out old things with the teflon scraping off (which Claire loathes), and there was a bath mat. We'd happily stay here again.
