Quiet cozy beach cottage just steps from the ocean in Corolla, NC - hot tub - wrap around deck - wild horses - sea turtles - 4x4 beach tailgating - **requires 4WD vehicle with aired down tires**

7 night (one week minimum) Saturday check-in/check-out during peak months (May - September).
3 night minimum all other times of the year.

The space
Unwind on the peaceful and secluded northern beaches where the wild horses roam free. This cozy coastal cottage was lovingly built on the 4x4 beach in Corolla on unpaved sandy roads. Enjoy ocean views from high back chairs on the wrap-around decks, while soaking in the hot tub, or from the designated desk space in the loft. Access the beach on foot, literally just a few hundred yards away, or by vehicle to enjoy tailgating right on the beach.

This home is perfect for couples and anyone looking for a remote workspace with internet. The open loft design features a large desk on the ocean-facing side and the sound-facing side can be enjoyed as a TV room or converted into a second bedroom with two twin beds.
Lower energy children, who do not need a lot of space, find our cozy home fitting.
High-energy school-aged and young adolescent children find our home a bit tight—a larger home with a little more space to play may be more suitable.
This is a pet-free home. Comparable homes are nearby and allow pets, if you are looking for a pet-friendly option.
**Access to this home requires a Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) vehicle with aired down tires and disabled traction control & ABS (or deep sand/snow mode, if available).**

Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire house and property, with the exception of storage spaces.

Refer to the photos for a map showing how to access the beach on foot and by vehicle.

4WD beach vehicle passes are not required to access the house. There are two vehicle passes inside the house for use during your stay between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Other things to note
!! ATTENTION: A Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) vehicle with AIRED-DOWN TIRES is required to reach this home, located 3.75 miles from the end of the pavement. The “roads” are sand and there are very few road signs once you leave the pavement.

--PLAN AHEAD--

TRAVEL TIMES: if this is your first time visiting the 4x4 beaches, plan on an extra hour of travel time regardless of what your GPS says. >> Beware that there are times when high tide blocks the travel lanes. Prior to traveling, check tide charts and Corolla weather conditions, both storms and moon phases affect how high the tide comes up. >> It is also very dark, there are no street lights. >>>>>>>>>>Day-time travel is recommended, especially for first-time visitors, as there are tree stumps, horses, and people walking or fishing on the beach, all of which are difficult to see while driving on the sand at nighttime.

AIR DOWN: The number one reason vehicles get stuck in the sand on the 4x4 beach is due to hard tires/not airing down. Regardless of a vehicle’s four-wheel-drive capability, HARD TIRES SINK IN THE SOFT SAND.
The mandatory air-down station is located approximately 5 miles before arriving to this home; it is on the right-hand side and there is a small green sign just before the gravel parking lot designated for airing down vehicle tires. If needed, there are public restrooms located at the air-down area.
