Two bedrooms with comfy queen beds (and an extra single bed ). Full bath and kitchenette.(fridge and a two burner induction hot plate, microwave, instant pot, coffee maker, toaster and tea kettle. ) . Good for couples, solo adventurers, friends, business travelers, and families! Check in after 5 p.m but can happily adjust to suit .

The space
This is a lower apartment with a private entrance that opens to a lovely garden.- use our guidebooks to explore Portland at your leisure. It is a cozy, comfortable haven from which to launch your Portland adventure (and to escape the rain)! In summer our amazing garden feels like a hidden secret getaway.
Both bedrooms have queen beds and one has an added single, and are, decorated and set up with your convenience in mind. Bedside lamps are available to allow you to read from our lending library or from the book you picked up at the renowned Powell's City of Books. We have games, cable TV and a DVD player for a cozy time at home too.
The kitchenette is fully functional--stove top, and instant pot (no oven). It is stocked with spices all the equipment you need to whip up a meal made from delicious Portland produce. Those amazing deep sinks are more than 120 years old and we took great care to preserve them.. There are two farmer's markets within walking distance during the summer, and two classic Portland grocery stores (New Seasons and Fred Meyer's) mere blocks away.
The hot water in the bathroom is prompt and the water pressure is fantastic. Together with the washer and dryer for your own personal use, you're ready to relax after a long day hiking around Portland's urban Forest Park or exploring the breathtakingly stunning Columbia Gorge and Multnomah Falls. We will provide you with eggs, bagels and cream cheese, tea, coffee and cream to get you started at the beginning of your stay.

Guest access
The apartment is totally yours! We live above you and are available if you need anything. The kitchenette and bathroom are stocked with the necessities (and yes, coffee and tea are necessities). Talk to us if you need more items or if you have forgotten anything! Chances are we have it. We also have two touring bikes available for use with prior arrangements.

Other things to note
This is a basement apartment with both natural and artificial light to distance you from Portland's notoriously overcast sky. In summer, our huge shady trees keep your abode comfortably cool. We live in the house above, and we try to be very considerate about noise levels when the bottom unit is occupied. We allow pets that are well trained and chaperoned and are not left unsupervised to roam the apartment. If you need it, we can provide a comfortable crate to contain your pet. We thoroughly clean the apartment after a pet has been there, so we require an additional pet fee of $25.

A word about parking. This home is on a one-way street. There is fantastic access to public buses . Street parking is available nearby but not in front of the house. Upon request, I can move our cars to the street and you can have our driveway. Many folks Uber and I try not to park on the street if it is not necessary. Just let us know and I will give you an on premises spot! We are happy to do it. We are located close-in which is great. However, please use the crosswalks on our NE corner of 24th and Broadway during high volume times. And because it is a big city we encourage guests to remove things from their vehicle and bring them inside. You can bring your bikes into the apartment if you'd like. We are on the residential side of a block that includes terrific destination restaurants. Before even crossing the street you'll encounter Costello's Travel Caffe (a neighborhood favorite for breakfast and lunch), The Rose and Thistle Pub (trivia every Monday), Spielman's Coffee and Bagels. A few blocks down there are wonderful brunches, sports bars, Portland's favorite tiki bar Hale Pele, Broadway Books, carrying a wide selection of new releases, local authors, and used books, as well as traditional favorites and children's books. Saint Simon a few blocks west on Broadway has wonderful coffee, and Nicolas to the East has Mediterranean fare . Blind Onion Pizza is a local favorite and there are several Thai restaurants in walking distance.

Our neighborhood is extremely friendly and close. It is filled with artists, professionals, professors, entrepreneurs, social activists, and generally great people. We often have large neighborhood gatherings, and walking around the historic neighborhoods is one of our favorite things to do and a great way to capture the flavor of Portland. There are two playgrounds within walking distance.
