About this listing
The studio guesthouse is a peaceful retreat located behind our 1940's adobe home in the historic Blenman-Elm neighborhood. We are only one mile from University of Arizona, Banner-University Medical Center, and the Arizona Inn.
The guesthouse is completely private, very clean, quiet, and fully stocked with all the essentials. Relax in the backyard with native Sonoran desert landscaping, a beehive fireplace, and covered porches.
This charming adobe guesthouse is the perfect base camp for enjoying all that Tucson has to offer. The 500 square-foot studio is located behind our main house through a sculptural steel gate built by a local artist.
The guesthouse is studio living at it's best: a single airy high-ceilinged room with a sitting area, dining area, full kitchen, and a comfy new queen bed in the corner. A sofa folds out into a second queen bed for kids or additional guests.
The kitchen has a full set of dishes, pots & pans, toaster, microwave, and coffee maker. We provide locally-made pastry and organic fruit for a light breakfast, plus teas and snacks. And since we're originally from Seattle, we are coffee snobs and there will be fresh-roasted fresh-ground coffee for you.
The living area has two sofas, a piano, and a new 40" TV with Netflix. There are books, movies, cards, puzzles, and board games too.
In the bathroom you'll find fluffy new towels and earth-friendly bath products.
The courtyard has a beehive fireplace and dining table-- a wonderful place to enjoy a cool evening in the desert. Out back, there are covered porches with a hammock, and two baby desert tortoises (out in the warmer months only). Bob is a gardener and would be happy to tell you about the native Sonoran desert plants which attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Feel free to harvest from the vegetable garden and lemon tree.
Green living: the entire property is completely powered by solar energy!
The guesthouse is completely separate from our main house. We share the yard, so you might see us out occasionally watering the garden, feeding the tortoises, or filling the hummingbird feeders. The yard is fully fenced and pet and kid friendly (as long as they know not to touch cacti)!
The entire yard, courtyard area, and garden is there for your enjoyment and relaxation.
There is a breezeway between the two houses with laundry facilities (washer and dryer).
Ample free street parking is available in front of the house.

I have lived in Tucson on-and-off since 2001, and am completely in love with the unique nature and wildlife of the Sonoran Desert! My favorite thing to do is look for birds, and I volunteer for the Tucson Audubon Society.
My husband, daughter and I live in the main house on the property, and are available to help answer questions and plan your visit to Tucson!
I started hosting on airbnb in 2016, and I love meeting people from all over the world, from different backgrounds, and from all walks of life, who are drawn to Tucson for so many different reasons. I hope to meet you soon!
