About this listing

The studio guesthouse is a peaceful retreat located behind our 1940's adobe home in the historic Blenman-Elm neighborhood. We are only one mile from University of Arizona, Banner-University Medical Center, and the Arizona Inn.

The guesthouse is completely private, very clean, quiet, and fully stocked with all the essentials. Relax in the backyard with native Sonoran desert landscaping, a beehive fireplace, and covered porches.

The space

This charming adobe guesthouse is the perfect base camp for enjoying all that Tucson has to offer. The 500 square-foot studio is located behind our main house through a sculptural steel gate built by a local artist.

The guesthouse is studio living at it's best: a single airy high-ceilinged room with a sitting area, dining area, full kitchen, and a comfy new queen bed in the corner. A sofa folds out into a second queen bed for kids or additional guests.

The kitchen has a full set of dishes, pots & pans, toaster, microwave, and coffee maker. We provide locally-made pastry and organic fruit for a light breakfast, plus teas and snacks. And since we're originally from Seattle, we are coffee snobs and there will be fresh-roasted fresh-ground coffee for you.

The living area has two sofas, a piano, and a new 40" TV with Netflix. There are books, movies, cards, puzzles, and board games too.

In the bathroom you'll find fluffy new towels and earth-friendly bath products.

The courtyard has a beehive fireplace and dining table-- a wonderful place to enjoy a cool evening in the desert. Out back, there are covered porches with a hammock, and two baby desert tortoises (out in the warmer months only). Bob is a gardener and would be happy to tell you about the native Sonoran desert plants which attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Feel free to harvest from the vegetable garden and lemon tree.

Green living: the entire property is completely powered by solar energy!

Guest access

The guesthouse is completely separate from our main house. We share the yard, so you might see us out occasionally watering the garden, feeding the tortoises, or filling the hummingbird feeders. The yard is fully fenced and pet and kid friendly (as long as they know not to touch cacti)!

The entire yard, courtyard area, and garden is there for your enjoyment and relaxation.

There is a breezeway between the two houses with laundry facilities (washer and dryer).

Ample free street parking is available in front of the house.

Interaction with guests

We live in the front house on the same property and are as available as you need us to be. We can give you complete privacy, but are always available to answer questions and help you plan your visit to Tucson!

Live like a local: I've put together a binder with recommendations for our favorite places to eat, walking destinations, and brochures for things to see & do.

We embrace airbnb's non-discrimination policy, and welcome people from every background with inclusion and respect.

Our stay was perfect. Suzy was very accommodating to our late arrival and her place was clean, well equipped, and perfect for our two night stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Bob and Suzy were such wonderful hosts. We arrived to find a loaf of the best sweet bread I've ever tasted, a full container of coffee and orange juice in the fridge with some fruit on the table. The space was beyond comfortable, and the backyard garden serene with lots of lizards and hummingbirds and even two small turtles if you could find them :-) The neighborhood is super convenient to the U of A, and has some fun walking right out the front door – including the nearby Arizona Inn for an outdoor porch dinner. We are only sad it took us until our son's graduation from the University to find this place!

Suzy's guest house was one of my favorite air bnb stays to date! It was so clean and comfortable, the location was perfect and she has thought of every detail to make it comfortable for her guests. I really appreciate the details like cream for my coffee and cold water in the fridge. I could live there! I was traveling alone and felt super safe but will come back with my husband soon so he can have the same great experience.

Bob welcomed me early because I had a flight that landed well before checkin. Very nice of them to accommodate me early! Bob and Suzy are unique and meticulous as is reflected In their thoughtful place. Bob showed me the garden which he offered to let me harvest food in and gave me pick of my favorite potted agave as a gift! The space itself has comfortable furniture, a dreamy soft bed and silky sheets and the softest clean towels I've felt in ages. Leather couches, a piano and artistic throws rounded off the space. Electronics including a Bose system and iPhone dock clock were handy. The couple even had a fridge with treats and delicious coffee and fresh baked goods waiting for us. Healthy products in the kitchen and shower for use! Thank you both! Only wish I'd have lit the fire place but I did enjoy the yellow leaf hammocks and watching nature from the back yard living room. The push up lizards were doing their mating dance!

Suzy User ProfileSuzy is a superhost.

I have lived in Tucson on-and-off since 2001, and am completely in love with the unique nature and wildlife of the Sonoran Desert! My favorite thing to do is look for birds, and I volunteer for the Tucson Audubon Society.

My husband, daughter and I live in the main house on the property, and are available to help answer questions and plan your visit to Tucson!

I started hosting on airbnb in 2016, and I love meeting people from all over the world, from different backgrounds, and from all walks of life, who are drawn to Tucson for so many different reasons. I hope to meet you soon!
