Broseley has strong links with the early industrial revolution. By the beginning of the 17th Century it was a thriving industrial settlement having close links with Coalbrookdale, on the other side of the River Severn. In the 18th and 19th centuries it developed into a major centre for coal mining, iron manufacture, earthenware manufacture and a variety of associated activities. The famous Iron Bridge was built in 1779 to link Broseley with Coalbrookdale and led to the foundation of the town of Ironbridge which is now part of a World Heritage Site. This early industrial activity has resulted in a settlement of remarkable character. The architecture is a mixture of three centuries of building styles in a hilly and wooded setting mixed together in a delightfully haphazard manner.

The team behind the hugely popular annual Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival have launched their long-walks programme for the 2019 festival. The event, running from 4 - 12 May, is offering more than 50 FREE walks over nine days, making it probably the biggest in the West Midlands and one of the best in the country. The festival offers a number of ‘themed’ walks ranging from two to 21 miles covering a whole host of topics from the wonderful landscape and geology of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site to the wildlife that inhabits The Gorge’s ancient woodlands

Broseley Festival

Broseley festival is a free 2-day music event held here in Broseley. The High Street is closed off from traffic with the mainstage situated at the very top of the high street and a smaller more family orientated stage situated in the Memorial Gardens directly in front of the property plus the opportunity to visit the funfair. Usually held on the 3rd week end in June..please be mindful that we overlook The Memorial Stage, so it's a little noisier that weekend!

Love my little family, country walks and pottering about in the homestead. Nina and I really enjoy hosting and helping people make the most out of their breaks here in the Shropshire countryside, whether that's reccomending which of the many pubs and restaurants and going to fit the bill for you, which of the museums you might like to try first, or sharing some of the activies we love to get up to when we have some spare time at home such as exploring the jitties or local woodland.
