A traditional Tamil home stay near Uppuveli beach. Price is for a Triple room with optional AC and there's one double and one triples available.
Thiru's is a 50 year old traditional tamil family home. Its spacious rooms have a real warm and homely feeling to them. There's one double room and two triple rooms with attached bathrooms and optional AC. The verendah overlooks a big garden with mango, coconut, jack fruit and palmyra trees. Conveniently, the host runs a small restaurant near the property.
Interaction with guests
Mr. Thiru, the owner and host, is 60 years young and has been working in tourism for the last 10 years. He lives in the homestay, while his wife and young daughter live in a separate house nearby. Mr. Thiru is fluent in English, knows a lot about Trinco and its history, so you can strike up an interesting conversation with him. Apart from food, he can arrange all kinds of things, such as transport and tours.Thiru's is located in Uppuveli, on the main road to Nilaveli, with Uppuveli beach just 300 meters away. Two kilometres from the home there's the newly built golden Krishna temple, which has an Indian-Tamil vegetarian restaurant next to it. So lots of local and foreign pilgrims visit this place. Trincomalee Town, with its Koneswaram temple, natural harbour and Dutch Bay, are about 6 kilometres away.
Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.
We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.
As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.
In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.
The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
