The location is perfect for walking and enjoying the local festivities. We were there during a Basque festival, sheep shearing contest, pony rides, petting zoo and fire fighter demos and rides. The property is wonderful for children offering outside areas and activities.

Federique is a great host. Very welcoming and informative in all thins regarding the house and Martel in general. The apartment was very pretty, everything working perfectly and is a very warm space. I felt like home right away. Is very well equipped and has a great location in martel, where you can travel in and out of the village easily.

We had an excellent 5 days in Martel - a beautiful little village with a great market, and with far fewer tourists than many of the surrounding ones! We arrived 4 hours late due to train delays and Federique and Pierre were kind enough to provide us a lovely dinner as the restaurants had already closed. The apartment is perfect - a large veranda and large bedroom, dining room, living room and kitchen. All very nicely furnished, and with loads of light. Thank you!

We spent 5 days at the Conserverie and loved every minute of it. Despite some very bad weather, we fell in love with the very tastefully decorated apartment, with beautiful Martel, with the Perigord cuisine, the nearby villages and breathtaking landscape. We would love to return soon with more time to explore the area. Thank you Frédérique and Pierre for making our stay so enjoyable and for being so welcoming and helpful.

Thanks very much Frédérique and family! We had a wonderful time. This is a great apartment in a traditional stone building with great decor. Frédérique was a great host and the apartment was well supplied and there was lots of room. A really lovely setting in a pretty village - Martel is really nice and small enough that you can walk everywhere but large enough to have a supermarket, pharmacy, several restaurants, and a market in the main square twice per week. It is a little less touristy than some of the better known villages in the area, but with all the charm. Martel is also very accessible from the A20 highway and we enjoyed seeing nearby sites like the Gouffre de Padirac and the Dordogne River. Less than an hour away from Beynac Castle and the Sarlat area. We also took a day trip to see the prehistoric cave paintings at Pech Merle near Cahors and the Lot River, which was also only about an hour away using the main highway. We loved our stay!

Frederique was very welcoming and left a lovely bottle of wine and some foie gras for us when we arrived. Her house is very cool/funky design and spacious. It is a good location with just a 5 minute walk to town and easy to drive to all the sights. We were there in winter so we did not use the balcony, but I imagine it would be very inviting in summer. There was plenty of room for a family and the kids enjoyed the toys, books and outdoor swing/fort to play with. I would recommend this accommodation.

What a special place this is! Thank you to Frederique for sharing it with us. Our family stayed in this light filled gite for a week and wished we could have stayed longer! Frederique was the most gracious host. She respected our privacy and was always there if we needed anything. We really appreciated her thoughtfulness and generosity throughout our stay from the wine and duck pate that welcomed us (after a rainy 5 hour drive down from Lyon), ensuring the apartment was heated on chilly mornings and nights, providing toys and books for our daughters (aged 4 and 7) and tips on where to go and what to see. The house is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and our girls especially loved the gardens. Well located within an easy stroll to the town and the Martel rail. We look forward to returning again!
