My place is on a private game reserve, close to Addo Elephant National Park. Great views & wildlife. You’ll love my place because it is unique, self catering, un-serviced camping in 3 large well arranged and equipped tipi's, each with a private bathroom. My place is enjoyed by couples, families (with kids), and caters for up to 12 guests. (4 per tipi unit).

The space
TiPi bush camp offers a unique setting in the Addo Afrique Estate game reserve, bordering the Addo Elephant National Park. Large 6.3 metre diameter TiPi’s, based on the American Indian style can each accommodate 4 people on a self catering un-serviced basis. In each Tipi there is bedding, towelling, crockery, cutlery, sink, cleaning equipment, twin gas cooker, gas fridge, double bed and double “sleeper couch”. The fridge is off on arrival and will need to be lit ( instructions are provided). The “sleeper couch” separates to two single beds if required. Neat ablutions in close proximity to the TiPi’s provide glass showers with hot & cold water, wash hand basin, flushing toilets and communal sink. Each Tipi has its own ablution and braai (barbeque) area; you do not share with others. All hot water and lighting is by solar. The temperature of the hot water is dependant on the amount of sunshine, and worst case scenario it is warm water in winter after days of overcast and rain. There is no electricity on the site. From the TiPi there are panoramic views over a valley teeming with game.

Guest access
You may roam unescorted through a wide variety of non predatory game like Ostrich, Giraffe, Kudu, Eland, Bushbuck, Nyala, Waterbuck, Mountain Reed Buck, Springbuck, Impala etc. When walking through grass, check yourself for ticks afterwards. Self drive game viewing throughout the estate is permitted. 4x4 vehicles are not necessary.

Other things to note
You will need to bring you own firewood, food and drinks, in addition to the normal cameras, binoculars and personal toiletries, etc. Your own torches are recommended for when you stray away from the illuminated areas of the camp. This is camping in the bush. In addition to the wildlife and bird life one can expect on rare occasions to encounter all the other little creatures like lizards, rock monitors, spiders, snakes, mosquitoes (non malarial), ticks, ants etc. The camp is located between a national road (100m) and railway line (400m) where the traffic can be heard, as with the Main Camp at Addo Elephant National Park. Some may find it offensive but as it is intermittent, very few people actually notice it enough to complain.
