Our Shepherds Hut nestles into it's own space just next to the house, it has an ensuite shower etc, double bed and gorgeous west facing country views. Only a five minute walk from the centre of the village it is a haven of peace and tranquility. Please note we have a 2 night minimum stay for single occupancy.

The space

The Shepherds hut is equipped with everything you need to make your stay great, There is a fully stocked hospitality tray with a range of teas, coffees and fresh milk, home made biscuits, fresh fruit and flowers. The shower has been praised as "the best this holiday" In the morning come over to the conservatory to enjoy a delicious breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. To follow, a choice of the full English breakfast, including our own hen's eggs cooked however you like them and toasted home made bread. The hut is really well insulated with sheep's wool keeping it warm in summer and cool in winter, however you are welcome to fire up the wood burning stove if you wanted it a bit warmer. There is no TV but free fast WiFi in the Shepherds hut and the conservatory.

Guest access

Guests have access to the flourishing cottage garden and comfortable seating area facing west over open fields, a lovely, peaceful place to spend some time in the evening watching the sun set and listening to the birdsong. Guests are also welcome to use the conservatory, there are comfortable rattan chairs and also a large oak table where breakfast will be served.

Interaction with guests

I interact with guests as much or as little as they would like. I live in the house so am able to help with tourist advice and general enquiries but if people want to do their own thing that is fine too.

Other things to note

Take a look at what our guests have to say about us on Trip Advisor - Hope Cottage Tours. Please note we have a minimum of two nights stay for single occupancy.

We fell in love with Sue and Bob’s place (and their ducks). Everything was perfect! Both of them are really amazing chefs (the breakfast was delicious) and the place was everything we needed for a relaxing getaway away from London :) We hope to come back soon!! Diana and Emiliano

We had a wonderful and unforgettable time in the lovely cosy shepherds hut. Sue did everything to make us feel welcome during our stay. The shepherds hut is an accommodation like no other. It's perfect to escape from the daily live for a weekend and to return relaxed. We definitely have to come back another time.

Yvonne and I had a fab time at Fountain Violet Farm in Kinswear. The Granary is ideal and has all you need. The addition of the sun-catching verandah is great. Location is ideal for getting down to Kinswear and further afield. There are many excellent walks (eg the walk to Coleton Fishacre) beginning from the farm as well as catching the steam train to the famous Greenway. Well worth checking out.

Response from Sue:
Hi John, I'm so pleased you wrote a lovely piece in our visitors book about how much you had enjoyed your stay at Hope Cottage as the above review must be for the place you went to after us. An easy mistake and not rectifiable easily in the Airbnb system. No problem, I'm pleased you had a good time both here and in the Lakes. (P.s I wonder if they got the review meant for us)
