Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Experience the unusual architecture that Taos is famous for in this charming, light-filled geodesic dome. This beautiful, artistic space is located 3 miles NE of town, with easy access to all areas of Taos-The Gorge Bridge, Taos Pueblo, Taos Ski Valley, The Plaza, and Hiking. Open sky walking trail out the door! It is about 12 minutes from downtown. We welcome you to one of the first and best Airbnbs in Taos!

The space
The dome is a 30ft accross, with a bedroom loft space, an old clawfoot bath tub with a handheld shower head.
******
*PLEASE NOTE:
there is NOT A REGULAR STANDING SHOWER. Showering off is possible with the handheld shower head but is not a traditional stand up situation.

***COMPOSTING TOILET***
Not a regular toilet. Works well and is easy to use. There is no water in the toilet and may be a little different from your tradition toilet experience.
There is a flap that slides open when you sit down for #2. Paper goes in as normal. The flap slides closed when you stand up. There is a place in front of the #2 slot where pee will go naturally down a drain. Men must pee sitting down.
****
a little kitchen and open floor plan. It is best for a solo journey or a couple, but the twin sofa bed for a third guest is quite comfy. It sits on shared land, although access is totally private.

We are happy to help with anything that comes up but want to insure that you understand about the toilet, bathtub and open floor plan. The only space that is enclosed with a door is the toilet room.
Refunds and discounts will not be provided in regards to the non-traditional bathroom amenities or open floor plan; as they are clearly posted and described here.

Guest access
Guests have private access to the dome. We live on the property and are available in emergencies, but generally guests will have complete privacy.

Other things to note
The dome is wonderful, but not without its Taos quirks. We use ecofriendly, non-toxic chemicals to clean. We are critter friendly- we take living creatures outside rather than kill them and do not use pesticides.

The dome has an composting toilet. With a little instruction this toilet is easy, ecofriendly, but it does have a slight odor. It should not have a strong smell, so if it seems beyond normal for a composting toilet, please let us know. The directions are posted in the pictures so you can get an idea of what to expect. It also has a beautiful clawfoot bathtub for bathing, but the kitchen sink also serves as the bathroom sink for teethbrushing, etc.

The Dome is a special place, and feels like a home, not a hotel. If you find anything uncomfortable or not to your liking, I encourage guests to let me know directly, so we can communicate and resolve the matter. We care deeply about everyone having positive experience in this special little Dome home.

Neighbourhood highlights

The Dome is located in such a manner that just about any direction you head it is close to all that Taos has to offer. It is perfect for a little solitude from the "city" bustle of the Plaza, yet it is only a 12 minute drive to downtown heading South. In addition, heading North, it is 3 minutes from Highway 64 which provides access to Taos Mesa Brewing Company, the Taos Ski Valley, Arroyo Seco, the Gorge Bridge, and other site-seeing adventures. We are excited to share the beautiful walking trail and the huge sunsets and sunrises. Restaurants and shopping are 5-10 minute drive.
