A sublime and oh-so-comfy retreat from the vicissitudes of life (and the pandemic), Barn farm --conceived and designed by the former Artistic Director of Ralph Lauren -- is a mix of small touches, thoughtfulness, and simple country beauty.

A restored 1860 barn and milking parlor, we are less than 2 hours from NYC. 3 hrs from Boston.

The space
The original restoration was done in 1980. In 2015, we undertook a complete & thoughtful style overhaul, with the addition of wide plank floors throughout, bead-boarding, board and batten, and lighting throughout from Remains Lighting of Brooklyn. Couches from ABC Carpet & Home andthe most comfortable bedding & linens that we could find.

The landscape is classic New England. Boxwoods surround the front of the house. Hydrangeas and vibernum surround the pool and spill over stone walls. Natural wildflowers and garden beds make for serene natural beauty.

The house is fully insulated for year-round use and has baseboard heating throughout. Supplemental heat can be provided by the fireplace.

Guest access
You have the range of the entire home. There is a closet and a small room which the owner keep their belongings in.

The garage is for the owner but if you need to garage your vehicle arrangements can be made for you to use it.

Other things to note
Things you'll enjoy:
Lounging by and in the pool sipping cocktails (in plastic cups of course!) The light. The interiors. The floors. The master. The beds!. Hanging around the fire at sunset. Space to play. Room to roam. Quiet. Close to great markets and restaurants.

I ask that you treat the home with the care and respect that you'd afford your own. I know you will never forget your stay.

The property is available year-round. I generally close the pool at the end of September. Please enquire if you have any questions regarding pool use around May or October (depending on the weather it may be possible to use. please note that heating costs for the pool are extra)

The property is near the crest of a hill, facing south with sun all day long. Looking Glass Hill is a less-travelled road, close to 202 and 5 minutes from the center of Bantam (with Arethusa, Bantam Market, Bantam Bread, antiques, a farmer's market, Bantam Lake). Cars rarely drive by and the back of the property is very private.

The neighbors on either side are second homes and are rarely occupied. The property is surrounded by woods and hills.
