Welcome to my lovely apartment in the best area of Manhattan. Located near exciting sights like the Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal, the room is located in brownstone building with exposed brick. Two minute walk to 6 train, and to many restaurants and bars, but also on an extremely quiet and scenic block.

The space

This listing is for a large sized room in a quiet brownstone apartment in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. The brownstone is located on a peaceful, residential block in close proximity to many great landmarks. It is located 3 blocks from the Empire State Building, 10 minute walk to the United Nations, 10 minute walk to Grand Central Terminal, 10 minute walk to Penn Station, 5 min walk to the Chrysler Building, 20 minute walk to Times Square. It's also situated near almost every major subway (4,5,6,N,R,Q,B,F,D,M). From the apartment, it is a quick subway ride to get to Soho, Harlem, Meatpacking, Lower East Side, and several Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods.

The apartment is located 2 blocks away from a grocery store, a laundromat/cleaner, and many great bars and restaurants. The block itself though is only residential and quiet. It is a walk up apartment, but only 2 flights of stairs. There is also a beautiful view of the Empire State Building from the rooftop. The apartment takes up the entire floor of the building, so there are no neighbors.

The apartment is a 3 bedroom, in which two of the rooms are available for bookings. This room is on a separate side of the apartment from the other 2 bedrooms. Your room has a lock on the door to which only you have the key, where you can secure your belongings while you explore the city. My roommate Nick lives in the third bedroom, and is friendly and happy to help if you have any questions, though most of the time he is working.

I am also a native New Yorker, and happy to help tourists with information and getting around NYC.

Eric is a consummate host in his communication and greeting, which were excellent and appreciated. We enjoyed meeting him. The cleaning person was not thorough and it detracted from the stay. The location of this apartment is as advertised-- superb.

Great location, lovely space. Loved the desk since I had some work to do while in town. Eric was a great host, and was good about responding to messages/questions. The apartment itself was surprisingly large, and there were even snacks provided (nice touch!) The place is about 1 block from the 6 train, and close to Grand Central. My window faced the street, but the block was actually really quiet given that its so close to 34th street. Also, the keys were stored at a cute cafe about 2 blocks away, which was nice since I was checking in super early and Eric was already at work. All in all, I would for sure stay again and recommend it to anyone staying in NYC. Thanks Eric!

outstanding value, very nice neighborhood; i wish i'd had time to eat in one of the 2-3 diners along Lexington Ave. the room was spacious, with a substantial closet, a big window and a small writing desk. Eric's apt is well worth schlepping a suitcase up 2 flights of stairs.

Eric’s place is fine, and I’m a great location to stay in Manhattan. However, there’s a couple red flags that if I’d known, would have made me think twice about booking this room. First, there’s multiple rooms being listed in this apartment. Meaning, we didn’t actually see Eric at all. Instead, after seeing a show, we go back to our room to find that the door has been bolted, and there’s another couple staying there! We had no information on this couple, and they very well could have denied us entrance. Additionally, the bathroom is SHARED. So we were also sharing a bathroom with these strangers (they also woke us up early the next morning because they had a question about their key). Lastly, the bed is VERY loud and squeaky and not too comfortable. With all of that said, the communication we had with Eric via email was also clear and positive, and he seems like a great host - although we never did meet him in person. It’s a typical New York apartment, so if that’s what you’re expecting, you want be let down - however, if you’re expecting anything akin to a hotel room, you need to re-evaluate your expectations.

I'm a native New Yorker, born and raised here. I work a normal 9 to 5 job and spend most of the week quiet at home. I'm always up for meeting new people and I'm happy to host travelers and introduce them to what makes New York such a great city. In down time, I like to travel …
