Casa Girasol is located in the heart of the Nicaraguan countryside, in San Lorenzo, Boaco, only an hour from the airport. Guided by Nicaraguan hosts, soak up the peaceful surroundings, see birds and monkeys, milk a cow, learn to make fresh cuajada cheese, and explore the mountains. A unique opportunity to stay in modern accommodations while enjoying the peace and charm of rural Nicaragua. Delicious home-cooked meals, guided tours and hikes or special events may be arranged for additional fee.

The space
Casa Girasol is a modern home, built in 2014. With an open floor plan, the home is bright and spacious. Two breezy porches offer views of the garden and the mountains. Three of the four bedrooms are open to guests (unless the whole house is rented), and it is the primary residence of Maria and Nandino. You will be hosted by our family.

Guest access
We offer three guest bedrooms and two shared bathrooms. The upstairs bathroom is reserved for guests, the downstairs is shared. Guests may access the common areas of the porches, living room and kitchen. Guests are welcome to stroll on the adjacent farmland and swim in the organic swimming pond! Casa Girasol may be rented as an event space, too.

Other things to note
During your stay, you are invited to enjoy Nicaragua’s first Organic Swimming Pond, located at Casa Girasol!
What is an organic swimming pond?
An organic swimming pond maintains itself, without chemicals. The plants, rocks and air filters serve to maintain the natural balance in the water. An organic swimming pond is a sanctuary for animals and plants, as well as for people! An ecofriendly alternative that protects water and local ecosystems. The water is clean, fresh and full of life!

Location

San Lorenzo, Boaco Department, Nicaragua

Casa Girasol is located in the rural outskirts of San Lorenzo, only a 15 minute walk into the heart of the town, and 2km from the highway. San Lorenzo is a quiet town, but there is much to explore in the area. Petroglyphs, monkeys, and spectacular views are just a hike away, and there are many opportunities to enjoy rural life in the heart of Nicaragua. Learn to milk a cow and make fresh cuajada farmer's cheese. Watch a baseball or soccer game. Watch and listen to parrots from the porch. Spend time with your hosts and learn about the history of the area. Take an excursion to nearby Boaco, Camoapa or Juigalpa.

We are excited to work with you to make your experience in San Lorenzo comfortable and authentic. Breakfast is included in your stay. Since there are not too many options for restaurants and eating out in San Lorenzo, we are also glad to offer three meals a day for an additional fee of $5 per meal. Delicious Nicaraguan food, as well the best pizza you'll have in Nicaragua, are available. We also offer beer and other basic provisions, just let us know in advance if you have any special requests or dietary concerns.

We are happy to offer guided experiences to see the heart of this community, for a small fee.
