Our newly built contemporary guesthouse, situated on 25 acres of meadows and aspen woods with a spring creek, has a stunning view of the Teton Mountains. Next door to our vacation cabin, the guesthouse (which doubles as our art studio) is a separate building with a great room, a bedroom and a bathroom. The bedroom has a king bed and the great room has a queen sofa sleeper. Here in the Teton Valley outdoor adventures, scenic beauty and quiet contemplation await.

The space

This new guesthouse, built in 2015, is a one bedroom, one bath contemporary timberframe cabin on 25 acres with a glorious view of the Grand Teton Mountains. It's best for one or two people or a small family who enjoy peacefulness and the outdoors. We are in the Teton Valley, one and a half hours from Yellowstone National Park and an hour from Jackson Hole Wyoming.

The bedroom has a king bed. Facing east, it has a private patio with an expansive and ever-changing view of the Grand Teton Mountains--a front row seat for magnificent mountain sunrises. The great room has a queen sleeper sofa and there are tables for dining and working.

Be aware there's no kitchen. The great room has essentials for basic cooking--microwave, mini fridge, single burner induction hotplate and simple cookware. So you won't starve, but please don't plan on gourmet cooking! For nice weather, there's a picnic table and a gas grill outside.

The setting is rural, but not wilderness. Our large property is in one of the few wildlife corridors in the valley and has natural meadows, aspen woods and a spring creek. A quarter-mile flat and scenic walking trail leads to another picnic table at the creek. Wildlife on the property has included moose, deer, elk, coyote, fox, badger, and marmot among others and many kinds of birds including great grey owls. Our next-door neighbors have horses, cattle and sheep.

There's no TV or wifi at this property. Internet is available in Driggs, 8 miles away. Mobile phone coverage is available at the guesthouse but the quality depends on your provider. Verizon service is very good but other providers' coverage may not be as reliable.

Guest access

The property is accessed from the main road via a dirt road across a 200 yard easement. You will park in front of our cabin and then will walk on a gravel path about 40 feet to the guesthouse. Lock box with the key is on the front porch. You will be welcome to the whole guesthouse and 25 acres of meadows and woods with the creek running through it.

Interaction with guests

We live in Seattle so all interaction will be remote unless we happen to be at our vacation cabin on the same property when you're there. In that case, we will probably say hi.

Other things to note

This is a special place for both active adventures and quiet relaxation. Our guesthouse is a wonderful base for touring by car to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. While Jackson Hole to the east has mushroomed into a tourist mecca, the rustic communities of the Teton Valley on the western flank of the Tetons—the ”quiet side”—create an outdoors adventure capital.

The native wildflowers provide the ideal backdrop for day hikes, horseback riding, or a quiet float or paddle board on the Teton River. Teton Valley has excellent access to national forests for hiking and mountain biking. In the heart of some of America’s best fly-fishing country, activities include world-class fly-fishing, amazing powder skiing and boarding at Grand Targhee, the 30 mile Ashton-to-Tetonia Trail, PGA golf courses, rock-climbing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dune buggies at St Anthony Sand Dunes and scenic glider flights at the Driggs airport.

And if you are looking for a quiet place to just get away from it all, our guesthouse is a beautiful place great for relaxation, birdwatching, reading, writing in your journal, walking, romantic seclusion, or painting in a scenic, peaceful setting.

The location was perfect for a quiet get away or a base for enjoying the Tetons, Yellowstone and other local outdoor adventures. Special touches such as the welcome note and complimentary beverage and picnic backpack made us feel sooo welcome upon arrival. The view from the studio was better than advertised as our phone pictures can confirm. Gormet meals were possible with the hotplate and outdoor grill and mini fridge. You can't go wrong staying at this studio. Such a delight for two or a family of four.

Loved staying in the guesthouse! It was peaceful, clean, and a great jumping off point to explore Yellowstone and Grand Teton. It's a bit of a drive to both (btw 1.5hr-2hr), but the drive was so beautiful I didn't mind at all. It was pretty incredible to wake up, roll over in bed, and watch the sun rise over the mountains. Definitely recommend!

Valerie's place is a gorgeous art studio in Tetonia, ID. We used it as a base to go to Yellowstone (a bit far) and Grand Teton NP. Lovely base for some great hikes and magnificent views incl moose in the woods. Waking up to see the Grand Tetons every morning was divine. As the listing states there is a mini fridge and m/w but the supermarket in Driggs (10 min away) is quite convenient. Would highly recommend

Looking for a quiet place to stay after an active day of discovery in the Grand Tetons? This is the answer. Everything was clean and neat. The bed was comfortable and the view was amazing. Waking up to the sounds of wild birds and watching the sunrise above the Grand Tetons was a wonderful introduction to a new day. Thanks Valerie and Bob for the experience on our first visit to Idaho.
