Have you ever watched the wonderful movie "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe, where he inherits a vineyard in Provence? If you have, you may have had a desire to visit the romantic and idyllic area where it was filmed. If yes, go to Menerbes and stay with Sally. Our family of four just spent 7 days in Menerbes and were thrilled to stay in Sally's house. While we had quite high expectations based on the Airbnb description and photos already, our actual stay exceeded these expectations. Sally is a wonderful, attentive host, who is always willing to help out, but who also leaves you alone to enjoy your stay. We loved how she had decorated the place with such tender, loving care. It was quiet and cool during hot days, the facilities were perfect to cook for ourselves from time to time, while perfectly located in Menerbes to wander on foot to restaurants and galleries. Internet worked perfectly, which was good, as our two teenage kids needed their daily fix of dialogue with friends back home. Menerbes itself is one of the most romantic, idyllic places you can imagine. Tons of atmosphere, but much less touristy than nearby Gordes. It is still perfectly located for car day trips to check out interesting places in Provence. In terms of things to do, there are so many options. We can highly recommend visiting local farmers markets in nearby villages, Avignon for its interesting history and architecture and Camargue for its very interesting history and culture. We would go back in a heartbeat. Worth every penny.

Menerbes is truly beautiful - a quiet, quaint romantic setting made a lot better by being so well informed & looked-after by Sally, the brilliant hostess! We were well advised on how best to keep ourselves busy (if we wanted to be); where to day visit and eat well. Just a little walk from the beautiful villa are a handful of galleries, restaurants and not much more - perfect retreat for rest, relaxation and appreciating the Provence lifestyle & culture for what it is. There can't be a better way of experiencing first hand what makes Provence so special & attractive than staying in Sally's Menerbe villas! The accommodation is beautifully decorated, ideally located with such amazing hill-top views. Thanks again Sally! With love, Jon & Chido xx

This was a fantastic place to stay especially in a July heatwave. The garden has plenty of shade at all times of day, the living room is always cool and the views from the swimming pool are to die for. Menerbes is a pretty hilltop village with several private art galleries, plenty of places to eat and lots to do within a short drive.

Had a fabulous time in this beautiful home and location. The garden villa is one of three units rented out by the owner who lives upstairs. It has a lovely private garden and up a flight of stairs is the beautiful pool pictured in her listing. It is hard to capture how beautiful the views are and how well the home and outdoor features capture the essence of Provence--peace, beauty, ancient stones, lovely plantings, antiques. Menerbes is a perfect hilltop village in the Luberon. You could almost hear the silence in the evenings, and the air is so soft and scented by lavender and other plantings. We ate at several restaurants in town and never felt the need to go to another town to eat. But we did explore many lovely nearby places. Do rent a small car as the streets are extremely narrow.

Our family of four has just returned from a very enjoyable stay in the Garden Villa. First of all, the owner Sally could not have been more helpful and accommodating. She allowed us to be flexible on our dates after booking and to check out late for a night flight on our last day. And she brought us some delicious grapes. She was a fantastic host. The bedrooms were very comfortable. Both were ensuite - but only one of the bathrooms has a WC. The other is downstairs. The kitchen is small but pracital, with everything you'll need. The sitting room is the same. The outside seating area in the garden is fine but perhaps a bit cluttered - making a bit more space would have been better for the smaller eating table. The pool area is at the top of the house and is wonderful. Plenty of space to sit and eat and the views are amazing. We watched two amazing Provençal sunsets from there. It is shared with the other two rental properties in the house but that wasn't a problem for us. We found that we were on different schedules to other guests most of the time and when we did cross over, everyone was very friendly. One tiny suggestion. The kitchen and living area are a bit dark and subterranean and would benefit from a much lighter colour scheme. Another point to be aware of. The Airbnb category for this property is "entire house". While that's semantically true and the property is self-contained, you do share the building with two other rentals, one of which seemed to be above the garden villa. No-one was staying above us during the week but on our last day the cleaner arrived at seven in the morning and it was loud. Finally, the location is pretty perfect. Being in Menerbes means you can walk to some excellent bakeries, restaurants and bars. And the village itself is lovely. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this property and host.

We were welcomed warmly in this spectacular place, with a nice bottle of Rose and numerous tips for things to do, both in lovely Menerbes and in the beautiful Luberon region. The pool is perfect, with a splendid view. You can swim here next to a (fake) crocodile with Mont Ventoux in the background! Right from the villa is a path that takes you around the village in around 40 minutes, perfect for a morning or evening stroll. There are several excellent restaurants in Menerbes with two bakeries. We had a lovely couple of days here!

I am a lover of travel and exotic treasures (textiles, whimsical objects, antiques, paintings). I love to create, whether by painting houses, stitching curtains or cushions, or creating an installation. Naturally, I love to cook, especially after going to one of the numerous open markets here in Provence. Not to mention the choice of wine! Lucky me--I have lived in the US, Venezuela, Barbados and France. and as a result speak 3 languages. My homes in France were created for my family, and so they are comfortable, warm and charming. I have lived in Provence for for over 14 years.
