Sunny, spacious bedroom in rambling old house. This is a shared apartment. Central location, comfortable beds, good wi-fi, very clean. Quiet residential neighborhood only a 5-minute walk from Main Street shops and restaurants, and a 5-minute bike ride to Acadia National Park. We are still renovating - see the description for more info.

NEW FOR 2020: Air-conditioning! We've just added mini-split heating/AC units in the bedrooms and living room.

The space
We bought this building about 3 years ago, and have had a blast renovating it. We've updated the bedrooms and living/dining room, which are bright, airy, and very comfortable, but we are still working on the other rooms and on landscaping. You can follow the renovation progress on Instagram at JennSBooher.

Your bedroom is on the second floor, freshly painted and comfortably furnished with a king bed, memory foam mattress, and cozy goosedown comforter. There is a deadbolt on the bedroom door for your privacy and security. The shared bathroom is on the same floor.

The apartment has a full kitchen. It has not been renovated, so the appliances and cabinetry are old, but the space is well-equipped: it includes a dishwasher, coffee-maker, microwave, Kitchenaid mixer, toaster oven, pots, pans, and baking sheets. There are board games, puzzles, playing cards, and books, as well as an excellent wi-fi connection [50Mbps down and 5Mbps up]. The bathroom has not been renovated either, but has a tub and shower. There are a washer and dryer in the hall.

We are currently painting the hallway in the apartment and may be doing other small projects during your stay. Please check with me before booking if you have concerns about construction during your stay.

Guest access
Historic Village Home is one apartment with two bedrooms, one shared kitchen, and one shared bathroom. The apartment is on the second and third floor of a two-family home. The King Bedroom is on the second floor. The first floor is a separate apartment with a separate entrance.

If other guests are renting the second bedroom you may meet one or two other travelers in the common rooms.

I’m an artist, and my studio is at the back of the house. I rarely have visitors there, but you may meet me in the kitchen now and then. If my studio door is open, you are welcome to come in and chat.

Location

Bar Harbor, Maine, United States

If you head right on Ledgelawn when you leave the house, it's a 10 minute walk to the Park Loop Road (the main road in Acadia National Park). Head left and it's an even shorter walk to restaurants, stores, and bike rentals. Main Street is about 4 minutes away.

I'm an artist, photographer, and landscape architect. I share this account with my husband, Brian, who is a consulting network engineer. We've been married for 24 years, and have 2 teenage kids. I speak some French (with a strong American accent, sorry) and a little Japanese; Brian speaks a little German.

During your stay
We live nearby, so it's easy to pop over if you need something. Brian grew up in Bar Harbor and Jenn has lived here for 20 years; our two teenage children were born here, and all four of us are happy to answer questions about places to eat, where to rent bikes or ice skates, our favorite hikes, or what to do on a rainy day.
