Alpenhutte is located just steps away from downtown Government Camp, where you can find restaurants and family-friendly activities. You’ll love our place because of the light, the comfy beds, and the coziness. My place is good for couples, groups of friends, families (with kids), and well-behaved furry friends (pets).

This was the loveliest spot! Great for a family with kids under 5, and adults who wanted to be near the brewery, great hiking, and excellent kayaking. Really lovely resting place, and great for cooking big meals to be enjoyed outside. We really enjoyed this peaceful retreat!

We really enjoyed our stay! The one thing I'd really emphasize when there is a lot of snow is that I really appreciated the heads up, and Cynthia is NOT kidding when she wrote to me "East Little Trail is fairly steep and can be tricky to get up and down when there is fresh snow and/or ice. Most AWD or 4WD cars don't have a problem, but if you have a 2 wheel drive I recommend bringing chains and always using caution." I borrowed a friend's Subaru Outback and we were fine up until East Little Trail, where even w AWD we slid back down 1/2 the hill due to a ton of snow/slush. We used chains to leave (at least 8" fresh snow) and all was fine. Just don't be cavalier, come prepared, as she suggests!

Response from Cynthia:
I'm glad you made it, Renee! Yes, the neighborhood roads in Govt Camp, while plowed, are not usually graveled and it makes driving on them difficult, esp if they are at all steep, like E. Little Trail. We realized that when we started going there in the winter, it's different from driving to Meadows or even Timberline .

This house is great. Close to everything you need, plenty of space for everyone. We had 7 people and could have comfortably fit another 2-3. Plenty of space to store your adventure gear downstairs so that it is out of the way. Highly recommend a stay here!

The house was beautiful and held our party nicely. Very conveniently located - close to town and activities. Definitely felt Like home. If you have kids, beware of 2 flights of very steep stairs. No personal devises could connect to the internet. (No connection) bring your own paper towels and toilet paper- just in case so you don't have to run to the store multiple times.

Response from Cynthia:
I'm sorry about the problems with the internet. We work with Centurylink to get the best and fastest possible connection but sometimes there are still problems. I apologize for the lack of toilet paper and paper towels. The cleaning service that I use is supposed to replenish all supplies between guests and leave at least 6-8 rolls of toilet paper. They are also supposed to take the garbage between guests. I will work with them to hopefully prevent this from happening in the future. I am also always available for guests - I did not receive a phone call or email during your stay or I would have gotten back to you right away. Thank you for your feedback, and I hope you have a Happy New Year!

We really enjoyed our stay at Cynthia's. The cabin had all the applinces and bedding as well as facilities to laundry etc. Cynthia was very friendly and accommodating since we had a last minute request for our new dog. Thanks so much for this fabulous setting for our family to be reunited. If you require more information, please feel free to contact me. Pat Burtner Freeman

Hello! My husband and I, and our two daughters, love Mt. Hood and Government Camp. We bought this house in 2014 and have loved every minute of it. We come up in the summer and fall to hike and bike, and enjoy the mountain air and sunshine. We also love it here in the winter and spring - there is usually plenty of snow and great skiing. We hope you will enjoy our cozy home away from home!
