My husband and I stayed at Mercy's place for 8 nights. The apartment is clean and very well situated with supermarts and plenty of restaurnts within 2 km radius. Walking to the Foch is easy (approx 15 mins) and walking to the old town is doable if you're a keen walker, otherwise cabs are easy to get from the apartment to that area. The apartment is spacious and has everything guests need for their stay. One thing is that it is one floor above ground level and very close to the street. I expected some street noise but it was much louder than I expected. We had earplugs to help block traffic noice, so sleeping was better with them than without though still we had broken sleep. It was also dark around the apartment at night as many light bulbs were burnt out making it hard to see while cooking.

We stayed at Mercy's Modern Loft for 10 days in February 2015. This wasn't our first time in Quito and we wanted to explore another area of the city. We were glad we chose to stay at Mercy's place. It was exactly as presented in the photos and the location was ideal. It was almost adjacent to a bus station (La Paz Ecovia station) which we often used to go to the historical part of the city and when we wanted to go to Plaza Foch (although Plaza Walk is still within walking distance). There are two SuperMaxis (a big supermarket) nearby, and beautiful La Carolina park is just a 10 minute leisurely walk away. What made our stay extra special was the kind reception we received from the lobby guards and building cleaning staff. They were always polite, friendly and helpful. Despite our poor Spanish language skills, communication didn't pose as a problem, with a handy translation app (the building lobby has free wifi). The wifi connection in Mercy's apartment was fast and reliable and enabled me to do my few hours of work each day that relied heavily on internet connection, in an efficient manner. Check-in was a breeze, with the lobby guard providing the keys to the apartment, which Mercy had previously arranged. Some travellers may find the vehicular noise from the street a bit of a concern, but that's just something that comes with the central and very convenient location of this property. The apartment is modern with a very nice layout, on two levels, with a balcony on each level. Floor to ceiling glass windows on both levels provide a lot of light and full length roller shades provide privacy but won't provide a black-out screen in case an afternoon nap is desired. We were not able to meet Mercy in person, but she was responsive via email and mobile to our questions.

I stayed in Quito at Mercy's apartment for almost two weeks. The place served my needs really well. First: the place is a big, airy, well-arranged place that would suit a couple really well. The bed is great, the kitchen works really well (there's a Supermaxi just down 6 Deciembre that has everything, if at higher than average prices). The area is safe, well served, on the the north side of Mariscal. Make sure that you explore the immediate area south of Av. Republica and west of 6 Deciembre for restaurants and bars – great. You can walk to anywhere in the Mariscal. Getting to the Guyasamin centre is close, and opens up a cool part of town - Bellavista that is pretty great. Similarly, the Teleferico is directly across town, easy by cab. You can also walk down to the main museum of the bank of ecuador (outstanding). Take the Guadelajara bus from outside the building to Pueblo and then a tax to the Terminal Terrestre, and you're on your way to Otavalo. Getting to the old city is harder, though: You can take the bus down 6 Deciembre, and you'll be there in about 15 minutes – but watch your stuff. This is a bit of a downside, because the old city is amazing. If you really need to be right where all that is, you might find Mercy's place a disadvantage. But for me, being able to work, cook, visit the terrific local restos in the north was a big plus. Mercy herself was very diligent – the key was left at the security desk, where Felix, the super-helpful door guy was, and there were no problems getting in and out, either arriving and departing, or when leaving for the day. She speaks excellent english, made sure that her phone number was ready for any issues. I really loved Quito, and though there is a side of me that would have also liked to be right downtown, this is a real, vibrant part of Quito as well that I might have completely missed. As it was, getting back and forth introduced me to a lot more of the city, so I'd say as long as you know what you're getting, this is a fantastic apartment, and a great place to stay.

Clean, well-designed and comfortable. It got a little cold at night since there's no heating but some socks & a blanket does the trick
