Here is the view of our lake, from our large front deck. Summer leaves obscure the lake scene, but you'll be down there swimming or canoeing then...Correct?Fresh, tested, pure well water! Ahhh!

Welcome to the great outdoors! Our (narrow-wheelchair friendly) home is a cozy, sweet, creative mountainside home, overlooking the lake. The whole of the first floor and the awesome outside are available to you (the upstairs stays vacant).
Enjoy swimming/canoing campfire circle, moss-laden paths, a cascading waterfall and easy hikes. Down the mountain is the Rapidan Wildlife Refuge, and our land abuts peaceful Shenandoah National Park.

Beautiful spot in the woods overlooking a pond — secluded yet accessible. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-month stay at Mary and Sebastian’s house and felt we were kindred spirits with them. Although we never met them face to face, we spoke on the phone and texted whenever we had a …

The property is secluded on a mountain. You will drive on gravel roads that will have larger rocks and rutt out due to rain and flooding. Regular car may have a problem after a storm. High clearance and 4x4 a plus. Not as bad as it sounds but it something to he aware of. W…

We were looking for peace and quiet away from Washington, DC, and we found it here. Mary and Sebastian are exemplary hosts; they provide extensive notes on the house and the area, and they respond to questions in short order. Everything about the house is personal and wonderful…

This house and Mary were both excellent. Mary had an open line of communication from the beginning and she prepped the house like she’s been doing this for a long time. She was extremely flexible and understanding, as I ran into personal issues shortly after my arrival and she …

Wow Taylor! That is the most positive, kind and affirming review I can imagine after what you had to go through at my place! I again apologize for the torential rains that reeked havoc on what should have been a sweet stay. I wish you well, with gratitude, Mary

We enjoyed our stay VERY much! The property is a standing-alone house with no immediate neighbor next to it. Down the hill is a small pond, which looks like - warm weather permitting (we stayed in November) - is for swimming available. We had the entire ground floor for us. Ther…

Thanks so much for this lovely review, Marc. We are glad you had a nice time on the mountain, and that our mechanic friend could help with your car! Yes, the water is brown. We have a mountain well and have it tested routinely. It is always potable, though brown in color from the sediment in the well water. We routinely change the whole-house water-filter (it can go one month, but it had actually been changed just three days before your arrival). We love the mountain water and raised our kids on it. I am sorry the color made you uncomfortable and will edit our listing to note the color and potability of the water so future guests know what to expect. It is I should note that the upstairs is always vacant when Airbnb guests are there. We do not rent the upstairs, and only the first floor is available for Airbnb guests. I will also update the listing to be clear. Again, thank you so very much for staying with us, and the sweet review. Peace.

We are pretty easy. I'm just one little person, trying to make the world a bit sweeter. Hosting seems the natural thing to do. My husband and I enjoy meeting new people, and will open our hearts as well as our home to you. There is so much to do, and you are welcome in the livin…
