My apartment is right on Hollywood Blvd. in a renovated 1920s building. The decor is a mix of modern and antique. Concrete floors. Corner unit. Lots of windows. A/C. It's walking distance to subway, groceries, restaurants and bars!

The space

Ok - so a bit more about the space! Its super private. It has a peaceful energy to it and I've always felt at home here. You'll likely never run into or hear the neighbors very much. At night you may hear a bit of distant noise from the patio of the bar down the street but closing the window usually shuts that out.

It has a quaint little kitchen with a gas range which has cooked up many a good eat. The dinette has a cool table made out of vinyl records. The furniture is stylish, eclectic and minimal. The floors are concrete with some area rugs here and there. It's a corner unit and the windows are huge so there is always lots of light. 42" flatscreen TV with basic cable and highspeed internet.

There is a nice little vanity area for make-up and self preparation. The bathroom has a full size tub/shower with great water pressure. Bedroom is big with a queen size bed. It's clean and clutter free. As they have tried to preserve as much of the history of this building as possible, it still uses the original heating radiators! The pipes can be a bit noisy and creaky when they come on, but they're rarely needed anyway except on the coldest days. And there is also AC in the kitchen and living areas. Coin operated washer/dryers are available in the basement of the building.

It's perfect for 2 people.

There is street free parking on the side streets. (parking is tricky after 6pm. I'd recommend Uber) It's also walking distance (2 minutes) from the subway as well as 24hr grocery store, Starbucks and some cool restaurants and bars.

Oh - And when I first moved in I was doing a bit of research about the building and found out that it was the last known residence of the Black Daliah before she was infamously murdered in Leimert Park in 1947. You can even go up a few floors and pass by the actual apartment she lived in! But don't worry.. no ghosts!

Guest access

You'll have access to everything in the apartment plus the quarter-operated washer/dryer in the building basement.

Colin was a very gracious and responsive host. He was quick to reply all my emails and was also willing to let me change my reservation at the last minute to a shorter stay. Upon arrival at his home, I saw that Colin had left a list of nearby grocery and convenience stores and also his favorite near-by restaurants. Although I did not have time to partake in any of his recommendations, I appreciated it and noted them for my future visits. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his collection of video games. The only thing I would complain about is the noise. The listing was described as quiet, which I did not agree with. It is right next to a bar, and with the windows open on a Friday night, you can definitely hear people talking, singing, and generally having a good time (as they should). Also, in the morning, I could hear people (probably the neighbors) closing their doors on their way out/in. I do agree that Colin's home is very private, but I would not say it's quiet. I was specifically looking for something quiet because my boyfriend is a light sleeper. In this case, my boyfriend was still able to get a good night’s sleep, so it’s a moot point. However, just keep in mind that this place is right next to a bar. Despite that, I had a pleasant stay at Colin's bright, spacious, and private apartment.

Easy communication, very responsive host. The location is a bit far from stuff, so definitely recommend having a car.

I am a natural creative and communicator personality type. I like things simple and unique. I keep my good friends and family close. I believe the best pleasure are good food, good drink and good company.
